Abstract: Techniques are described for decoding video data. A video decoder may determine chroma blocks in a chroma quantization group (QG) of the video data, determine a quantization parameter predictor that is the same for each of the chroma blocks of the chroma QG, determine an offset value that is the same for two or more of the chroma blocks of the chroma QG, determine a quantization parameter value for each of the two or more of the chroma blocks in the chroma QG based on the quantization parameter predictor and the offset value inverse quantize coefficients of one or more residual blocks for the chroma blocks based on the determined quantization parameter value, generate the one or more residual blocks based on the inverse quantized coefficients, and reconstruct the chroma blocks based on the one or more residual blocks.

Abstract: Examples of block-level signaling of quantization parameter offsets is described. Such block-level signaling of quantization parameter offsets provides block level flexibility to determine a more precise chroma quantization parameter (QP) for a chroma block. With the block-level quantization parameter offset signaling described in this disclosure, there is more flexibility in defining the chroma QP, resulting in more accurate determination of chroma QP on a chroma block-by-chroma block basis.

Abstract: An example video coding system may determine that a first block of video data in a processing area is coded using a first prediction mode. The example video coding system may determine whether a characteristic of the processing area meets a criterion. The example coding system may, in response to determining that the characteristic of the processing area meets the criterion, determine, based at least in part on the first prediction mode used to code the first block of video data in the processing area, whether to use a second prediction mode to code a current block of video data in the processing area. The example coding system may, in response to determining not to use the second prediction mode to code the current block of video data, code the current block of video data using a default prediction mode.

Abstract: A video coder is configured to perform motion vector prediction to predict a motion vector for a block of video data. The motion vector prediction may use a motion vector predictor list that includes both adjacent and non-adjacent candidates relative to the current block. The video coder may divide spatial motion vector prediction candidates for a current block of video data into groups, add the spatial motion vector prediction candidates to a motion vector predictor list based on the groups, and decode a motion vector for the current block of video data based on the motion vector predictor list.

Abstract: A device and method for coding video data determines a spatial-temporal motion vector predictor (STMVP) so that the STMVP does not need to be motion vector scaled. The device may determine a candidate list. The device may then determine which candidates in the candidate list have the same reference picture. The device may then generate the STMVP based on the candidates in the candidate list determined to have the same reference picture. Abstract: Systems and techniques for processing video data include a history-based motion vector predictor (HMVP) table with two or more HMVP candidates, where a first entry of the HMVP table associated with a first index value includes a first HMVP candidate and a second entry of the HMVP table associated with a second index value includes a second HMVP candidate, the first index value being lower than the second index value. For an advanced motion vector prediction (AMVP) candidate list, one or more HMVP candidates from the HMVP table are selected in a reverse order, where the second HMVP candidate is selected before the first HMVP candidate according to the reverse order. The selected one or more HMVP candidates are added to the AMVP candidate list. The AMVP candidate list can be used to perform AMVP for the one or more blocks of video data.
