Abstract: Aspects are provided which allow a UE to apply new radio high-speed train mode determination and false alarm suppression in HST deployments. The UE combines a plurality of indications associated with a high-speed train (HST) mode detection into a consolidated HST mode configuration signal. The UE determines whether to suppress the consolidated HST mode configuration signal based on a mobility metric of the UE and a plurality of thresholds. The UE transitions into a HST mode when the consolidated HST mode configuration signal is not suppressed based on the mobility metric of the UE exceeding at least one of the plurality of thresholds. As a result, false HST mode flags may be avoided and HST mode detection success rates may thereby be improved.

Abstract: In mobility scenarios, a user equipment (UE) may enter an airplane mod in which the UE has limited or no connectivity to a network. Cell selection latency after terminating the airplane mode may result in a delay in providing network or communication services. Some aspects described herein enable a reduction in latency associated with cell selection after operation in a mobility scenario. For example, a UE may determine that the UE is operating in a mobility scenario, and perform a receive-only cell selection procedure. Additionally, or alternatively, the UE may predict a destination associated with the mobility scenario and may identify a band list for performing a cell selection procedure. In this way, when the UE exits the mobility scenario, the UE reduces a time to successfully complete cell selection.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, via a first cell, first system information that indicates a first cell barring parameter associated with the first cell. The first cell barring parameter may indicate whether UEs are barred from accessing the first cell. The UE may receive, via a second cell, second system information that indicates a second cell barring parameter associated with the first cell. The second cell barring parameter may be applicable to UEs of a first type associated with a UE capability to communicate via cells that support one or more network energy saving (NES) procedures. The UE may participate in communications via the first cell based on the UE being of the first type and the second cell barring parameter indicating that UEs of the first type are permitted to access the first cell.

The UE may switch from the first subscription to a second subscription to receive a subsequent posSIB, in response to the second subscription state changing and/or the first subscription state changing. The state switching may be between connected mode and inactive/idle mode, or between voice service and data service.

Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for wireless communication. In an aspect, information associated with a Positioning System Information Block (PosSIB) is updated based on a UE-determined PosSIB-update periodicity, a UE-determined post-PosSIB decoding time offset, a PosSIB update schedule for a PosSIB group to which the PosSIB of the first type belongs, or any combination thereof. In another aspect, a system information block 1 (SIB1) for each PosSIB in a set of PosSIBs is received by UE. Each PosSIB in the set of PosSIBs is associated with a different PosSIB type, and each SIB1 comprises a value tag and an expiration timer for a respective PosSIB in the set of PosSIBs. Each PosSIB in the set of PosSIBs in accordance with the value tag and the expiration timer of the respective SIB1.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine that a network configuration procedure has failed a threshold number of times for a first radio access technology (RAT). The UE may perform a first action to prevent execution of the network configuration procedure until a timer has elapsed based at least in part on determining that the network configuration procedure has failed the threshold number of times. The first action may include transmitting a message that indicates that the UE does not have a capability to communicate using the first RAT, barring a cell or a tracking area of the first RAT or a second RAT that assists with establishing a radio access network connection for the first RAT, and/or refraining from reporting measurement results for the first RAT.
