Abstract: In an aspect, a user equipment (UE) may receive an uplink (UL) grant (e.g., dynamic UL grant, UL configured grant (CG)) from a network, but may decide to skip the UL grant altogether or not transmit any user plane data on the UL grant. In such instances, the UE may maintain or expedite expiration associated with one or more timers (e.g., discontinuous reception (DRX) and bandwidth part (BWP) inactivity timers, secondary cell (SCell) deactivation timer, etc.). The UE may also maintain or expedite expiration associated with one or more timers if it receives downlink (DL) transmission (e.g., DL semi-persistent scheduling (SPS)) from the network that includes no user plane data.

Abstract: A method of wireless communication by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving a number of uplink grants from a base station. The method further includes estimating a payload size for data to be transmitted from a UE buffer for a number of logical channels. The payload size corresponds to a sum of a number of data bytes to be transmitted and an amount of overhead bytes to be transmitted. The method still further includes determining a subset of the number of uplink grants to use for uplink transmission based on reducing a total padding size associated with transmitting the payload size, for each combination of the number of uplink grants. The method also includes transmitting the data from the UE buffer within a number of transport blocks, to the base station. The number of transport blocks corresponds to the subset of the number of uplink grants.

Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may allocate a first amount of power to one or more radios for a time window based on radio frequency (RF) exposure information and one or more other criteria. The UE may allocate a second amount of power to a selected channel or communication utilized by at least one radio of the one or more radios for one or more time frames within the time window based on the first amount of power allocated to the at least one radio for the time window. The UE may transmit the selected channel or communication based on the first amount of power or the second amount of power. Numerous other aspects are described.

The UE may transmit, based at least in part on the transmit configuration, a second communication during at least a portion of an OFF duration of the uplink transmission interval configuration, wherein the transmit configuration indicates a first amount of energy for the first communication based at least in part on the first communication being associated with the first group of logical channels and a second amount of energy for the second communication based at least in part on the second communication being associated with a second group of logical channels. Abstract: Aspects relate to using less than all of an allocation for sending information. For example, a first device such as a user equipment (UE) may receive a grant from a second device such as a base station (e.g., a gNB) where the grant identifies resources and/or a modulation and coding scheme (MCS) allocated to the first device for a transmission. Due to one or more factors, the first device may elect to not use all of the allocated resources and/or may elect to use a lower MCS value. In some implementations, the first device may send an indication of this election to the second device. In some implementations, the first device may send information in a first subset of the allocated resources and apply puncturing to a second subset of the allocated resource.
