In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify a first throughput on a first beam of the UE, wherein the first beam is associated with a first number of antenna elements. The UE may identify an estimated maximum throughput of the UE. The UE may communicate, based at least in part on the first throughput being greater than the estimated maximum throughput, using a second beam, the second beam having a second throughput that is greater than the estimated maximum throughput, and the second beam being associated with a second number of antenna elements lesser than the first number of antenna elements. Abstract: A UE may, responsive to detecting a power-related condition, send a message to induce the master node to release the secondary node. Such a message can include a message reporting a radio link failure of the secondary node, or, if a channel quality indicator is configured for at least some of the secondary cells of the secondary node, reporting a low CQI value so that the network can cease scheduling on such cells. Alternatively, in a carrier aggregation (CA) mode, with the UE connected to a single node comprising a primary cell and one or more secondary cells, the UE may not control which and how many secondary cells with which it communicates. In such a scenario, if such secondary cells are configured for channel quality indicator reporting, the UE may report a low CQI value so that the node will cease scheduling data on such cells.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure relate to performing a tune-away from a first radio access technology (RAT) to a second RAT. These techniques include, for example, a method in which one or more radio resources of a user equipment are tuned away from the first RAT (e.g., LTE technology) to the second RAT (e.g., legacy 2G/3G technology and/or Wi-Fi or Bluetooth technology). Based on detecting a need to tune away one or more radio resources, the UE may then determine a tune-away metric for each serving cell based on one or more performance impact factors associated with the serving cell being tuned away. The UE may select one or more of the cells to be tuned away based on the determined tune-away metrics. The UE may then tune one or more radio resources corresponding to the selected at least one cell away from the first RAT to the second RAT.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) determine that at least one packet of a set of packets for a downlink message is unsuccessfully received at a radio link control (RLC) layer of the UE due to a specific situation of a set of specific situations and may transmit the NACK message based on the missing packet (s) on an as needed basis rather than waiting for a timer to expire (e.g., a fast NACK mechanism). In some examples, the specific situations may include the UE missing packets after a measurement gap, missing packets based on wake up latencies for a discontinuous reception mode of the UE, missing packets due to interference from reference signals transmitted by neighboring cells, missing packets due to the UE not decoding retransmissions that have a same redundancy version (RV) of a downlink message, or a combination thereof.
