    Abstract: Devices and methods are described for coding a chroma block of video data. An example device includes one or more memories configured to store the video data. The device includes one or more processors in communication with the one or more memories. The one or more processors are configured to determine that single-tree block partitioning is used on a block of the video data. The one or more processors are configured to apply an intra chroma copy mode to a chroma block of the block. The one or more processors are configured to encode or decode the chroma block based on single-tree block partitioning and the intra chroma copy mode.

    Abstract: An example method of decoding video data includes determining a sum of absolute coefficient values of neighboring transform coefficients of a current transform coefficient of a current block of video data; determining, via performing arithmetic operations on the sum of absolute coefficient values and without using a look-up table that maps between sums of absolute coefficient values and rice parameters, a rice parameter for the current transform coefficient; decoding, using rice-golomb coding and using the determined rice parameter, a value of a remainder of the current transform coefficient; and reconstructing, based on the value of the remainder of the current transform coefficient, the current block of video data.

    Abstract: A video coder selects a set of wide-angle intra prediction directions based on a size of a luma block of a picture having a YUV 4:2:2 chroma sampling format. Additionally, the video coder determines an intra prediction direction for the luma block. The intra prediction direction for the luma block is in the set of wide-angle intra prediction directions. The video coder also determines an intra prediction direction for a chroma block. The luma block is collocated in the picture with the chroma block. The chroma block has a different width/height ratio than the luma block. The intra prediction direction for the chroma block is guaranteed to have the intra prediction direction for the luma block. The video coder uses the intra prediction directions for the luma and chroma blocks to generate prediction blocks for the luma and chroma blocks, respectively.

    Abstract: A device for processing video data includes a memory configured to store video data and one or more processors implemented in circuitry. The one or more processors are configured to generate a coding unit for chroma components of a block of video data. The one or more processors are configured to split the coding unit for chroma components into a first triangle-shaped partition and a second triangle-shaped partition. The one or more processors are configured to apply pixel blending using a set of weights for a YUV0 4:2:0 format to generate a predicted block for the chroma components of the block of video data when the one or more processors generate the coding unit for chroma components in the YUV 4:2:0 format and when the one or more processors generate the coding unit for chroma components in a YUV 4:4:4 format.

    Abstract: A device for processing video data includes a memory configured to store video data and one or more processors implemented in circuitry. The one or more processors are configured to obtain unfiltered reference samples for an area of a picture of the video data. The one or more processors are configured to disable intra-reference sample smoothing of the unfiltered reference samples for chroma samples in a YUV 4:2:0 format and in a YUV 4:4:4 format. The one or more processors are further configured to generate, using intra-prediction, chroma samples of a predicted block for a block of the picture based on the unfiltered reference samples when generating the chroma components in the YUV 4:2:0 format and when generating the chroma components in the YUV 4:4:4 format.
