Abstract: Methods and apparatus for constructing polar codes are provided. A transmitter determines at least one set of parameters corresponding to data to be transmitted, and a set of sorting indices corresponding to bits of the data to be transmitted based on the set of parameters, the set of sorting indices indicating a position set of the bits to be transmitted. The transmitter polar encodes the data based at least on the set of parameters and the set of sorting indices to generate a coded block of the data, and transmits the coded block of the data.

Abstract: Enhanced hybrid channel state information (CSI) reference signal (CSI-RS) for full dimension multiple input, multiple output (FD-MIMO) is discussed in which a base station configures a first CSI-RS resource for non-precoded CSI-RS and a second CSI-RS resource for beamformed CSI-RS. The first and second CSI-RS resources are associated with the same CSI process in a hybrid CSI-RS operation. The UE provides a first CSI report including a first rank and precoding matrix indicator (PMI) based on measurement of the non-precoded CSI-RS. The base station may use this first CSI process. CSI report for the beamforming of the beamformed CSI-RS. The UE further provides a second CSI report including a second rank, second PMI, and CQI based on measurement of the beamformed CSI-RS. Additional aspects may provide for a base station to aggregate multiple two-port CSI-RS resource configurations into a single multiport CSI-RS resource configuration that may be dynamically shared between different UEs.

Abstract: A method for compressing a deep neural network includes determining a pruning ratio for a channel and a mixed-precision quantization bit-width based on an operational budget of a device implementing the deep neural network. The method further includes quantizing a weight parameter of the deep neural network and/or an activation parameter of the deep neural network based on the quantization bit-width. The method also includes pruning the channel of the deep neural network based on the pruning ratio.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described for dynamic frozen bits of polar codes for early termination and performance improvement. A wireless device may receive a signal comprising a codeword encoded using a polar code. The wireless device may perform decoding of the codeword including at least: parity check of a first subset of decoding paths for making a decision on early termination of decoding of the codeword based on dynamic frozen bits, and generating path metrics for a second subset of the decoding paths that each pass the parity check based on the dynamic frozen bits, and performing error detection on a bit sequence corresponding to one of the second subset of the decoding paths based at part on error detection bits and the generated path metrics. The wireless device may process the information bits based on a result of the decoding.

Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for linear precoding in full-dimensional MIMO (FD-MIMO) systems. According to aspects, an eNB may compress a larger number of antenna elements to a smaller number of antenna ports. Abstract: A hybrid class B channel state information (CSI) reference signal (CSI-RS) scheme is discussed which configures one cell-common beamformed CSI-RS resource for beam tracking and another UE-specific beamformed CSI-RS resource for CSI feedback. The cell-common beamformed CSI-RS resource may be transmitted at a longer periodicity and shared by user equipments (UEs) in the cell. The beamforming may be cycled over a set of predefined weights transparent to UE. The UE-specific beamformed CSI-RS may be transmitted at a shorter periodicity and can be activated dynamically to allow resource sharing among multiple UEs. The UEs will report a CSI for the cell-common beamformed CSI-RS resource which provides a quality indicator for the associated cell-common beam and is utilized by the base station to determine the precoding weight for the UE-specific beamformed CSI-RS resource. Both resources can be configured with different parameter sets, such as number of ports, codebook type, and CSI reporting parameters.

An exemplary method may be performed at the encoder. The method generally includes encoding a stream of bits using a polar code. The encoding includes selecting a first set of channel indices for encoding information bits. The encoding includes selecting a second set of the channel indices smaller than a channel index for a first information bit for encoding fixed frozen bits. The encoding includes selecting remaining channel indices for dynamic frozen (PCF) bits having values based on one or more of the information bits. The method includes transmitting the encoded stream of bits.

Abstract: For communication utilizing polar codes, a hybrid automatic repeat request algorithm utilizing incremental redundancy (HARQ-IR) may provide increased throughput by including new data, not based on an original transmission, in a HARQ retransmission. The number of retransmitted bits and new information bits in each HARQ retransmission may be controlled in order to manage a tradeoff between increased throughput and a decreased block error rate (BLER).
