Air is admitted to the crank case and at least one pipe admits unmixed air from the crank case to a cylinder transfer port. At least one restricting element is disposed inside the exhaust pipe in a vicinity of the cylinder for restricting a passage of the exhaust gases, with the restricting element being controlled and adjusted as a function of at least one engine operating parameter.
