摘要:
A device and method for delivering and injecting fluid into heart tissue utilizing a laterally directed needle to increase injectate (fluid) retention in the heart tissue. The device may comprise a catheter having a shaft wherein the distal end of the shaft includes a primary penetrating member and a secondary penetrating member. The secondary penetrating member includes an injection lumen in fluid communication with a pressurized fluid source. The primary penetrating member penetrates the heart tissue at the injection site in a first direction, and the secondary penetrating member penetrates the heart tissue in a second direction different from the first direction such that fluid leakage from the injection site is reduced and the volume of treated tissue is increased.

A catheter for delivering therapeutic to an injection site within the body is provided. This catheter can include a shaft having a proximal end, a distal end, and an infusion lumen extending therein; a penetrating member coupled to the shaft and extendable from the distal end of the shaft, and a stabilizer positioned towards the distal end of the shaft. The catheter could also include a delivery system, able to be calibrated to deliver therapeutic through an injection port at a rate less than the therapeutic absorption rate of the injection site.

A device and method for delivering and injecting fluid into heart tissue utilizing laterally directed injection ports to increase injectate (fluid) retention in the heart tissue. The catheter includes a shaft having an infusion lumen extending therethrough, wherein the distal end of the shaft includes a penetrating member having one or more injection ports. The penetrating member penetrates the heart tissue in a first direction, and the injection port or ports direct fluid in a second direction different from the first direction. By injecting the fluid or fluid in a direction different than the penetration direction, fluid leakage from the injection site is reduced and a greater volume of tissue is treated for a single primary injection.
摘要:
This invention relates generally to medical devices, such as stents, for delivering a biologically active material to a desired location within the body of a patient. In particular, the invention relates generally to a medical device for delivering a biologically active material to a surface of a body lumen. More particularly, the invention is directed to a medical device comprising two opposing end sections, each having a surface, and a middle portion. The middle portion comprises a plurality of struts and the two opposing end sections comprises non-structural elements. The end sections of the surface either (1) contain a greater amount of a biologically active material per unit length of the surface or (2) have a greater capacity per unit length to contain such material than the middle section of the surface by having a greater surface area per unit length of the surface than the middle section or having a greater affinity for the biologically active material per unit length of the surface than the middle section. The struts and the non-structural elements comprise biologically active materials. The invention is also directed to a method for delivering the biologically active material to the body tissue of a patient by inserting this medical device into the body of the patient. Still further, the invention is directed to a method of treating a body lumen surface by preventing or treating restenosis or hyperplasia, using the system of the invention. Still further, the invention is directed to a stent having a sidewall which comprises a middle section, a first end section and a second end section. The stent also comprises a band comprising a biologically active material. The band is connected to the first end section and/or second end section of the stent.

A modular stent graft system and associated surgical methods are provided that incorporates an external stent-based locking mechanism to prevent disarticulation of the legs from the bifurcated graft as well as other features that overcome many of the difficulties of the prior art associated with delivering and securing the bifurcated grafts to the intended deployment site within the human aorta.

In one embodiment of the present invention a coating topology, or engineered surface architecture that may be referred to as a microdroplet deposited engineered surface architecture is provided. A plurality of drops are placed on the stent with the purpose, of building up individual units of coating material on the outer stent surface. This architecture results in a coating that uses less material, i.e., polymer, solvent, medicine, while at the same time providing for better, and determinable, drug kinetics, approaching 100% delivery and better mechanical operation of the coating binding to the stent.
