    Abstract: A method for operating, such as commissioning, an elevator, and an elevator are presented herein. The elevator comprises an electric linear motor for moving movable units. The method comprises moving a first movable unit along a linear stator of the electric linear motor in the elevator shaft, and determining at least one characteristic, such as a floor position or an air gap width of the electric linear motor, at a plurality of elevator shaft positions by the first movable unit, such as by a winding, a coil, or a sensor, during the moving. The method further comprises storing the determined at least one characteristic, and controlling moving of at least a second movable unit, such as comprising another of the elevator cars or a second motor unit, by utilizing the stored at least one characteristic.

    Abstract: An elevator system includes: an elevator control; a plurality of individually movable elevator cars driving in an elevator runway system including at least one elevator runway, preferably at least two elevator runways, whereby the number of elevator cars is higher than the number of elevator runways in the runway system. The elevator cars are movable in the elevator runway system via at least one drive system. Each of the elevator cars is provided with an identifier. The elevator system includes at least one reader device for the identifier and a car handling module in the elevator control processing the information on the elevator cars and their identifiers in connection with their position in the elevator system. The elevator system includes elevator cars differing in at least one parameter (differing parameter). The memory of the elevator control includes car parameters of the cars in operation in the elevator system and the elevator control is configured to use the car parameters in the control of the elevator system. The identifier includes information at least about the differing parameter, and the car handling module is configured to put out of use the car parameters of an elevator car that is to be put out of operation and/or to introduce the car parameters of an elevator car which is to be put into operation.

The method comprises obtaining first data on available time-dependent power consumption flexibility capacity from each passenger transport installation; obtaining second data from at least one external data source, the second data being independent from operation of the passenger transport installations; determining an activation order for power demand management of the plurality of passenger transport installations based on the obtained first data and second data; and transmitting a passenger transport installation specific activation signal for the power demand management to at least one passenger transport installation of the plurality of passenger transport installations in accordance with the activation order.

    Abstract: A device for an elevator, an elevator, and a method for moving an elevator car are presented. The device includes a linear mover including a winding. The linear mover is adapted to establish an electromagnetic engagement by the winding with a linear stator of a first stator beam. The device further includes an electrical energy storage unit, such as at least one battery, and an electrical converter unit arranged to supply electrical current from the electrical energy storage unit to the winding for moving the device along the first stator beam. The at least one linear mover, the electrical energy storage, and the electrical converter unit are integrated into a body of the device, and the device is adapted for attaching removably to an elevator car of the elevator and, optionally, to a further device of the elevator.

    Abstract: A multicar elevator system includes a group of individually drivable elevator cars and two shafts coupled to each other with at least two transfer channels.     Abstract: An elevator arrangement includes a plurality of elevators in a building, which plurality includes a plurality of zoned elevators moving in an elevator hoistway, which have different ranges of movement of the elevator car in the building to each other, and which zoned elevators each have a top limit and a bottom limit of the range of movement of the elevator car, to above the top limit and to below the bottom limit of which range of movement travel of the elevator car of the zoned elevator in question is prevented. The vertical location, in relation to the building, of the top limit and/or bottom limit of the range of movement of the elevator car of each aforementioned zoned elevator can be changed. The arrangement also comprises a lobby elevator, the range of movement of the elevator car of which differs from the ranges of movement of the elevator cars of the aforementioned zoned elevators, and the stopping floors of the lobby elevator comprise a plurality of lobby floors, each of which is a stopping floor of one or more zoned elevators belonging to the aforementioned zoned elevator plurality. A method is provided for re-adjusting the elevator arrangement, wherein the range of movement of the elevator car of the zoned elevator in question is changed to reach to a different height in the elevator hoistway by changing the vertical location in relation to the building of the top limit and/or the bottom limit of the range of movement of the elevator car of the zoned elevator in question.
