Abstract: Methods and systems are provided for injecting fuel into a combustion chamber of an engine. In one example, a system may include a hollow cone-shaped injector and a control unit to control the injector. The control unit may detect the position of an inlet valve and trigger the injection process, wherein the injector may be configured to spray fuel out of an inlet duct, through an annular gap, and into the combustion chamber of an engine in an injection process.

Abstract: A high-pressure fuel injection system includes a nozzle housing and a nozzle needle that is axially displaceable in the nozzle housing and with which an outflow opening in a valve seat of the fuel injection nozzle can be closed and opened. At least one pulsation reducer is arranged between the nozzle needle and an inside of the nozzle housing. The pulsation reducer includes a plurality of breakwater elements that dampen pressure pulsations in the fuel flowing through the injection nozzle to the outflow opening.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for a high-pressure fuel pump to mitigate audible ticking noise associated with opening and closing of a digital inlet valve of the high-pressure pump. To reduce the ticking noise associated with the high-pressure pump when the engine is idling, a solution is needed that is simple and does not involve retrofitting the fuel system with noise, vibration, and harshness countermeasures to mask the noise. Pressure devices and associated operation methods are provided that involve adding a combination of several check valves, an accumulator, and a flow control valve with weep channels to allow the digital inlet valve to be deactivated during engine idling as defined by a threshold engine speed.
