Abstract: The present invention relates to a composite material comprising nanoporous particles and at least one binder constructed from at least one isocyanate and at least one polymer P selected from the group consisting of polyvinylamine, poly(meth)acrylic acid, poly(meth)acrylic ester, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinylthiol and mixtures thereof, wherein said at least one binder is used in an amount of 0.1 to 20 wt %, based on the amount of nanoporous particles, a composition for producing a composite material of this type, a process for producing a composite material of this type, shaped articles comprising said composite material and the use of said composite material for thermal and/or acoustical insulation.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a polyurethane adhesive comprising an isocyanate component A and a polyol component B where the isocyanate component A comprises at least one diisocyanate or polyisocyanate and the polyol component B comprises the alkoxylation product of a mixture of castor oil or ricinoleic acid (i), of an aromatic di- or polyol (ii), and of an OH-functional compound having aliphatically bonded OH groups and OH-functionality of from 1 to 8 (iii), and also optionally of a compound (iv), selected from the group consisting of cyclic anhydrides of dicarboxylic acids, and optionally of a compound (v) selected from the group consisting of cyclic mono- or diesters. The present invention further relates to a process for adhesive bonding with use of the polyurethane adhesive of the invention, to an item adhesive-bonded with the use of the polyurethane adhesive, and to the use of said item in the construction of wind turbines.

Abstract: The invention relates to stable silicon dioxide dispersions and also their use for producing polyurethanes. The silicon dioxide dispersions are largely or preferably completely free of water and comprise silicon dioxide particles having an average diameter of 1-150 nm and at least one chain extender. The silicon dioxide particles can be modified by means of a silane (S) which comprises groups which are reactive toward isocyanates. Furthermore, a polyol, in particular a polyesterol and/or an isocyanate-comprising compound can be comprised in the silicon dioxide dispersions.

Abstract: A process for preparing a thermoplastic polymer involves reacting at least components (a) to (b), in the presence of a catalyst composition (c). Component (a) is an isocyanate composition containing at least one uretdione diisocyanate (a-i), and component (b) is an epoxide composition containing at least one diepoxide (b-i). The catalyst composition (c) contains at least one ionic liquid (c-i), preferably selected from 1-ethyl-3-methyl imidazolium bromide, 1-benzyl-3-methyl imidazolium chloride. 1-butyl-1-methylpiperidinium chloride, 1-ethyl-2,3-dimethylimidazolium bromide, 1-(2-hydroxyethyl)-3-methyl imidazolium chloride, butyl-1-methylpiperidinium acetate, or mixtures of two or more thereof. A thermoplastic polymer obtained or obtainable from the process is useful for the preparation of a fibre or a molded article or as a modifier for another thermoplastic material.

Abstract: A crosslinked polyurethane obtainable by a process is disclosed wherein polyisocyanates are mixed with polymeric compounds having at least two hydrogen atoms reactive toward isocyanate groups and comprising at least one diene block copolymer which has at least two hydrogen atoms reactive toward isocyanate and has a polydiene main chain and at least one side chain or terminal chain composed of a polyether and/or a polyester, where the proportion by weight of the polydiene main chain is, based on the total weight of the diene block copolymer, from 25 to 95% by weight, to give a reaction mixture that is cured. Composites and blends composed of crosslinked polyurethane and rubber are also disclosed, as well as the use of crosslinked polyurethane in the production of tires or parts of tires, cable sheathing, shoe sole, roller or hose.

Abstract: Described herein is a thermosetting resin composition, obtained from the reaction of at least: a polycarbodiimide (i), where the number of carbodiimide groups per molecule is in the range of from 1 to 10; a mixture of crystalline and amorphous polyols (ii), where the molar ratio of carbodiimide groups in the polycarbodiimide according to (i) to hydroxyl groups in the mixture according to (ii) is in the range of from 1:2 to 2:1 and where at least 25 weight-% of the mixture according to (ii) consists of at least one crystalline polyesterol, based on the overall weight of the mixture being 100 weight-%. Also described herein is a method of using the thermosetting resin composition as an adhesive, as well as processes for preparation of adhesives, an element including an adhesive layer on at least one substrate, and an adhesive film, obtained from one of the processes.

The present invention further relates to a polyurethane obtainable by such a process, and to the use of such a polyurethane for producing bodywork components for vehicles.
