摘要: Presently describes are articles, such as liquid reservoirs, comprising a liquid repellent surface. The liquid repellent surface comprises a surface layer comprising a silane or siloxane material, wherein the liquid repellent surface is not a lubricant impregnated surface. In one embodiment, the liquid repellent surface (e.g. layer) comprise a silicone melt additive and a thermoplastic polymeric material component. In some embodiments, the article (e.g. liquid reservoir) comprise a thermoplastic polymeric material.

摘要: Retroreflective articles include transparent microspheres (120) protruding from a bead bond layer (140), with reflective metal layers (130) coated on a portion of the transparent microspheres. Retroreflective articles with anti-staining properties have bead bond layers that contain one or more corrosion inhibiting compounds. At least a portion of the one or more corrosion inhibiting compounds migrates through the reflective metal layer to passivate the exposed metal surface of the reflective metal layer.

摘要: Presently described are components of a spray application system. At least one component comprises a liquid repellent surface layer. The liquid repellent surface (e.g. layer) may comprise a porous layer and a lubricant impregnated into pores of the porous layer; a fluoropolymer; a fluorochemical material and an organic polymeric binder; or a fluorochemical material melt additive and a thermoplastic polymeric material component. The component is typically a liquid reservoir, a liquid reservoir liner, a lid for a liquid reservoir or liner, or a combination thereof. In some embodiments, the component comprises a thermoplastic polymeric material. In some favored embodiments, the component is a removable liquid reservoir or liner. In some favored embodiments, the component is a collapsible liquid reservoir or liner. The spray application system typically further comprises a gravity-fed spray gun. Also described are spray application systems, methods of using a spray application system, as well as methods of making a component of a spray application system wherein the component has a liquid repellent surface.

The article comprises a repellent surface such that the receding contact angle of the surface with water ranges from 90 degrees to 135 degrees. The repellent surface comprises a fluorochemical material, typically in combination with a non-fluorinated organic polymeric binder. The fluorochemical material is prefer-ably a compound having the formula: (Rf-L-P)nA Rf is a fluorinated group; L is independently an organic divalent linking group; P is a catenary, divalent heteroatom-containing carbonyl moiety, such as —C(O)O—; A is hydrocarbon moiety; and n typically ranges from 1 to 3. Also described are methods of making an article comprising providing an article subject to ice formation during normal use and providing a liquid repellent surface, as described herein, on at least a portion of the article.

摘要: A copolymer preparable by copolymerization of monomer components comprising: a) polydimethylsiloxane mono(meth)acrylate having a molecular weight of from 300 to 10000 grams/mole; b) optionally C3-C10 carboxylic acid-functional mono(meth)acrylate or a salt thereof; c) at least one C5-C16 hydroxyalkyl mono(meth)acrylate; and d) at least one of: i) C10-C30 linear alkyl mono(meth)acrylate optionally having one or two carbon atoms replaced by O or S; or ii) at least one (meth)acrylate represented by the formula wherein: R1 is H or a C1-C4 alkyl group; n is an integer from 0 to 18, inclusive; each X is O, S, C2-C6 oxyalkylenoxy, C2-C6 thioalkylenethio, or a covalent bond; and R2 is independently a C5-C50 hydrocarbyl group. The copolymer is useful as a water- and oil-repellent treatment on a substrate. Certain monomers corresponding to component ii) are also disclosed.
