摘要: A microbial detection device and methods of use are provided. The device comprises a water-proof pouch that includes a first wall portion, a second wall portion, and a porous membrane filter disposed in the pouch between the first and second wall portions. The filter membrane divides the pouch into first and second compartments. A dry, cold water-soluble gelling agent is adhered to the pouch in the first compartment and an absorbent pad is disposed in the second compartment. A release liner removably adhered to the first adhesive layer.

摘要: Devices for the propagation or storage of microorganisms are provided including a first layer that has a first portion of a surface of the first layer, to which a first water-swellable gelling agent comprising a first clay is affixed. The devices further include a second layer that is separable from the first layer and has a first portion of a surface of the second layer, to which a second water-swellable gelling agent is affixed. Methods for detecting and enumerating at least one microorganism in a sample are provided. The methods include providing a device, separating the first layer from the second layer, adding an aliquot of a sample containing at least one microorganism onto the first or second water-swellable gelling agent to form an inoculated device, laminating the first layer back to the second layer, and incubating the inoculated device. Kits and methods of making the devices are also provided.

摘要: Described herein is a hydrogel-containing multilayer article and methods of making, said hydrogel-containing multilayer article comprising: (i) a polymeric substrate comprising an abstractable atom; and (ii) a cured aqueous coating composition thereon wherein the coating composition comprises: (a) a hydrophilic monomer comprising a (meth)acrylamide, (meth)acrylate, and combinations thereof: (b) at least 2 wt % of a water-swellable clay; (c) a water-soluble type I photoinitiator; and (d) an acid or salt wherein a water insoluble type II photoinitiator is localized at the interface between the hydrogel coating and the polymeric substrate.

摘要: A selective microbial detection device and methods of use are provided. The microbial detection device also includes an effective amount of a dry nutrient disposed in the first compartment, which contains sodium lauryl sulfate in an amount of 1.75 milligrams or greater per twelve square inches of the first wall portion. A dry, cold water-soluble gelling agent is adhered to the pouch in the first compartment and an absorbent pad is disposed in the second compartment. A sealable sample port provides access to deposit a liquid into the first compartment.
