The Zn2SiO4:Mn particles satisfy requirements of Zn3p/Si2p≧2.10 (1), and Zn2p/Si2p≧1.25 (2) wherein Zn3p represents an emission amount of photoelectrons emitted from a 3p orbit of a Zn element in a region up to 10 nm from surfaces of the particles, Zn2p represents an emission amount of photoelectrons emitted from a 2p orbit of the Zn element in a region up to 3 nm from the surfaces of the particles, and Si2p represents an emission amount of photoelectrons emitted from a 2p orbit of a Si element in the region up to 10 nm from the surfaces of the particles.

    摘要: The present invention provides a plasma display device that has light emission properties with short persistence where green light has a persistence time of 3.5 msec or less, that is excellent in luminance, luminance degradation resistance, and color tone, and that is suitable for, for example, a stereoscopic image display device. The present invention provides a plasma display device including a plasma display panel in which a pair of substrates at least whose front side is transparent are disposed to oppose each other so as to form a discharge space between the substrates, barrier ribs for dividing the discharge space into a plurality of discharge spaces are disposed on at least one substrate, electrode groups are disposed on the substrates so as to produce discharge in the discharge spaces divided with the barrier ribs, and a green phosphor layer that emits light by the discharge is provided, wherein the green phosphor layer includes a mixed phosphor containing a short persistence Mn2+-activated green phosphor with a 1/10 persistence time of more than 2 msec but less than 5 msec and either a Ce3+-activated green phosphor or an Eu2+-activated green phosphor that has a light emission peak in a wavelength range of not less than 490 nm and less than 560 nm.

A protective layer for the dielectric layer includes a crystalline MgO layer that has a property causing a cathode-luminescence emission having a peak within a wavelength range of 200 nm to 300 nm upon excitation by electron beams. A red phosphor layer generating visible light by being excited by vacuum ultraviolet light includes a mixed phosphor of a first phosphor of (Y, Gd)BO3:Eu or the like which is a borate-system red phosphor and a second phosphor of Y(V, P)O4:Eu which is a phos-vana system red phosphor.

    摘要: A phosphor layer is provided on a back glass substrate placed opposite a front glass substrate with a discharge space in between, and formed in a double-layer structure consisting of a first phosphor layer and a second phosphor layer having its surface covered by the first phosphor layer. The first phosphor layer is formed of materials that permit the passing-through of a xenon molecular beam but absorb a xenon resonance line in the vacuum ultraviolet light generated from a discharge gas by means of a discharge, and have a higher resistance to the resonance line than that of the second phosphor layer. The second phosphor layer is formed of materials that have, as compared with the first phosphor layer, a higher light-emission brightness based on the xenon molecular beam in the vacuum ultraviolet light generated from the discharge gas by means of the discharge.
