    摘要: Non-blocking, hemocompatible, thermoplastic, fluorinated polyetherurethanes and a method for their preparation from fluorinated polyether glycols, isocyanates, chain extenders and a non-fluorinated polyol. The method includes two steps in which the fluorinated glycol is reacted initially with the diisocyanate to give a prepolymer having terminal isocyanate groups, and the prepolymer is then reacted with the extender and non-fluorinated polyol. Medical devices are fabricated from the fluorinated polyetherurethane.

    摘要: A film-forming siloxane composition having excellent adherent and lubricating properties comprising a reactive component having a combination of three siloxane polymers chemically crosslinked, and a non-reactive component dispersed therein. Substrates are dipped or otherwise coated with the compositions, at which time they are cured quickly under heat to a durable, adherent lubricating surface which is dry to the touch. Of particular advantage is the use of these films on hypodermic needles, razor blades, catheters and the like.

    摘要: Soft, non-blocking, thermoplastic polyurethanes are prepared by reacting a long chain polyester or polyether diol, a short chain diol, a diisocyanate and a silicone diol of the formula: ##STR1## wherein x has a value of about 1 to 30, y has a value of about 1 to 200, R is an alkylene group having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, R.sup.1 is selected from the group consisting of an alkyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, a haloalkyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, a phenyl group, a substituted phenyl group, or a phenylalkyl group, and V and W are divalent linking groups. A unique feature of the invention is that the polymers exhibit, less blocking, are less susceptible to hydrolysis and are highly transparent. These polyurethanes are particularly useful in fabricating medical tubing.

    摘要: Disclosed are bio-active coating compositions for polymeric substrates. In particular, a bio-active coating is described which is the reaction product formed by providing a polymer backbone with at least one free isocyanate group, wherein the isocyanate group is pendant from the polymer backbone. There is further provided a hydrophilic, amine-terminated spacer which has at least one amine group at its first and second ends. One of the amine groups of the spacer is reacted with one or more of the isocyanate groups on the polymer backbone in the presence of an optional catalyst agent. A bio-active agent is then covalently bonded onto an unreacted end of the spacer in the presence of a catalyst. Also disclosed are coating compositions for a substrate and methods of preparing same.

    摘要: An implantable microporous ePTFE tubular vascular graft exhibits long-term patency, superior radial tensile strength, reduction in tear propagation, and increases in suture retention strength and crush resistance. The graft includes an ePTFE tubular structure having a preselected microporous structure. The tubular structure is wrapped externally with a PTFE yarn in a helical fashion. The helical wrap of yarn is bonded to the exterior surface of the tubular structure by application of heat or heat in combination with force to form a composite structure which substantially maintains the porosity of the underlying tubular structure while increasing the suture retention strength, radial tensile strength, crush resistance, and tear propagation resistance.
