    摘要: A motor pack for an electrically driven tool includes at least one electric motor and a linearly displaceable member coupled to the electric motor such that the linearly displaceable member is displaced axially by operation of the at least one electric motor. The motor pack further includes a housing enclosing the electric motor and at least partially enclosing the linearly displaceable member. The housing includes a front plate to which a tool head may be removably coupled. The front plate has an aperture formed therein through which the linearly displaceable element can be coupled to a moveable element in the tool head. The motor pack also includes tool control circuitry enclosed within the housing and electrically coupled to the electric motor to control operation thereof.

    摘要: An electrically powered clamp has a housing, a motor attached to the housing, a ball screw driven by the motor via a belt, and a linkage driven at one end by the ball screw such that the linkage rotates an output shaft attached to the other end of the linkage. The motor and belt drive the ball screw between a fully extended position to rotate the shaft to a clamped position, and a fully retracted position to rotate the shaft to an unclamped position. A built-in computer monitors and controls the clamp. The clamp can also be controlled and monitored by a remote pendant. Indicator lights on the housing and remote pendant convey clamp status information. The clamp is programmable and can memorize the clamped and unclamped positions. The clamp uses velocity and position feedback to determine appropriate drive mode. Torque monitors and timers determine if the clamp becomes stuck.

    摘要: The invention provides an "on the fly" adjustable clutch for use with robot end-of-arm tooling that provides a means for sensing movement of a tool attached to the clutch and can send a signal to shut down the robot when an overload is encountered. The clutch includes a piston capable of lateral movement within a chamber that is slidably mounted on a pin and a tool plate. The pin extends beyond the clutch housing, and the tool plate is pivotally mounted on the pin. Biasing means acts to bias the piston away from the tool plate such that the tool plate is held somewhat rigidly in relation to the clutch housing by the biasing means. In a preferred embodiment, the biasing means includes springs and pressurized air that may be introduced into the piston chamber on either side of the piston to increase or decrease the bias of the springs. Thus, the clutch is capable of varying sensitivities with the biasing means being adjustable under program control. Also included on the clutch are locating means and proximity sensors. The locating means act to position the tool plate in a normal position in relation to the clutch housing. The proximity sensors detect movement of the tool plate in relation to the housing.

    摘要: A variable compliance device having a tool plate attached between a tool and a robot arm to allow limited movement of the tool plate relative to the robot arm. A concave bill seat connected to the tool plate and a pin having a concave surface house a bearing ball. An inflatable diaphragm exerts a force on a piston toward the pins to force the pins against the bearing balls. Movement of the tool plate relative to the robot arm causes the pins to move relative to the robot arm. The force of the diaphragm on the pins resists movement of the tool plate relative to the robot arm, and restores the tool plate to its original position after the outside force is removed. If the pins are moved beyond a selected point, a sensor senses the movement and sends a signal to shut down the robot.
