A biomass gasification system and operating method thereof are able to prevent hindrances caused by the tar component in a fuel gas and to thermally utilize a fuel gas containing a tar component. A gas reforming tower, able to thermally crack the tar component in a fuel gas by increasing the temperature thereof to a process temperature, is connected to a gas supply system, which routes a biomass-source fuel gas generated by a gasification furnace, to a utilization system. Fuel gas from the gas reforming tower is routed through a fuel gas induction system to the gasification furnace for use as fuel therein during the time required for the gas reforming tower to attain the process temperature.

A scroll type fluid machine has a stationary scroll 1 and a swivel scroll 2 engaged therewith contained within a hermetic housing 4. A plurality of legs 15 are provided on the outer circumferential edge of an end plate 11 of the stationary scroll 1, and are fixed by bolts 64 to a frame 5 supporting a rotating shaft 3 via a bearing 52. A rotation prevention mechanism 6 is interposed between the frame 5 and the swivel scroll 2. The swivel scroll 2 is connected to the rotating shaft 3 so as to make revolutional swivel motions. The diameter of the end plate 11 of the stationary scroll 1 is shortened, and thereby the hermetic housing 4 is made smaller. A cut out recess portion 25 is provided at each position corresponding to the plurality of legs 15 of the outer circumferential portion of a circular end plate 21 of the swivel scroll 2.

There is provided a scroll-type compressor in which a scroll-type compressing mechanism comprising a fixed scroll and an orbiting scroll, a motor, and a frame to which a main bearing is mounted to rotatably support a motor rotating shaft for driving the orbiting scroll are disposed in an enclosed housing composed of a plurality of housing members fastened by bolts, and the interior of the enclosed housing is divided into a high-pressure chamber and a low-pressure chamber by an end plate of the fixed scroll. The fixed scroll is fastened to the frame by making a plurality of holes passing through the frame in the frame, by inserting bolts into the holes from the side of the low-pressure chamber, and by screwing the bolts into the fixed scroll. Thereby, an adverse effect of thermal deformation or pressure deformation of the enclosed housing on a scroll-type compressing mechanism can be averted.

A biomass gasification system, which generates fuel gas from the thermal treatment of biomass in a gasification furnace thermally powered by a thermal airflow generator, incorporates a slag feed system which supplies slag S generated in the gasification furnace to the thermal airflow generator for use as combustible fuel therein. A vertical hopper is installed to the slag feed system for accumulating the slag to provide a sealing function which separates and seals the respective internal environments of the gasification furnace and thermal airflow generator. A detector is provided in the form of electrodes 9, 10 and 11 which are used to monitor the amount of slag in the vertical hopper by contacting the slag to establish conductivity in the electrode circuit.
