Abstract:
An approach is provided for supporting end-to-end Quality of Service (QoS) control. A QoS profile identifier is generated that maps to a QoS parameter. The identifier is transmitted over the radio communication system to an end station, wherein the end station determines the QoS parameter based on the received identifier. The approach also provides an alert mechanism in which the end station transmits an alert message upon detecting a deviation from the QoS parameter.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for controlling the flow of a wireless communication apparatus based on a plurality of resources. The levels of each of a plurality of resources are monitored and the flow state of the apparatus is set to ensure safe operation in view of disparate usage of the resources. In one embodiment an individual flow state is determined with respect to each resource. One of the individual flow states is then selected for the apparatus as a whole.
Abstract:
Disclosed are methods and apparatus for measuring performance of a multi-thread processor. The method and apparatus determine loading of a multi-thread processor through execution of an idle task in individual threads of the multi-thread processor during predetermined time periods. The idle task is configured to loop and run when no other task is running on the threads. Loop executions of the idle task on each thread are counted over each of the predetermined time periods. From these counts, loading of each of the threads of the multi-thread processor may then be determined. The loading may be used to develop a processor profile that may then be displayed in real-time.
Abstract:
Apparatus, and an associated method, for reporting QoS information associated with a reverse link communication service effectuated in a radio communication system, such as a CDMA2000 cellular communication system. The mobile station includes a service quality level selector that selects a selected service quality level, such as a communication rate, at which the communication service is to be effectuated. The mobile station further selectably includes a message generator that generates a service quality indication message. A detector detects the scheduling architecture of a network part of the communication system with which the mobile station communicates. And, information contained in the message generated by the message generator is dependent, in part, upon the scheduling architecture.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are methods and apparatus for incorporation of a Reverse Link Control Hold Mode and MAC_ID assignment in a cdma2000 1xEV-DV communications system. The teachings herein provide for a reverse link Control Hold Mode for a cellular communications system, wherein a mobile station uses an R-PDCH channel with or without an F-PDCH channel being assigned; alternatively, where a mobile station uses a F-PDCH channel without an R-PDCH channel. A medium access control identification code (MAC_ID) assigned by a base station from a MAC_ID space to each one of a plurality of mobile stations; wherein the MAC_ID is assigned in an ascending (or descending) order from the MAC_ID space for a first group of mobile stations, and wherein the MAC_ID is assigned in a descending (or ascending) order from the MAC_ID space for a second group of mobile stations.
Abstract:
An approach is provided for executing a fast handoff in a radio communication system. An active hard handoff condition associated with a communication session supported by a radio link protocol (RLP) flow and a signaling link protocol (SLP) flow is detected. Transfer of state information and data of the RLP and the SLP is performed over a pre-designated interface from a source entity to a target entity if an active hard handoff condition is detected. The above process is particularly suitable for deployment in radio communication systems, such as a cellular system.
Abstract:
Apparatus, and an associated method, for facilitating communications in a radio communication system that utilizes shared, packet channels. One or more common control channels are defined upon a forward link extending between a network part of the radio communication system and the mobile stations thereof. Assignment information sets so generated by an assignment information generator and formatted into data frames for communication to the mobile stations. The mobile stations monitor a single shared packet control channel to receive the assignment information sent thereto upon the common shared channel.
Abstract:
A method, computer program, and apparatus for allowing endpoints to move between zones of a packet-switched network. In the invention, a communication between local and remote endpoints are established via a first gatekeeper, which services a first zone of the packet-switched network, when the local endpoint is at a location serviced by the first zone of the packet-switched network. When the local endpoint moves to a location serviced by a second zone of the packet-switched network, subsequent to the initial hand-off, communication between the local and remote endpoints is maintained via the first gatekeeper and a second gatekeeper which services the second zone of the packet-switched network, by performing an initial hand-off communication control functions from the first gatekeeper to the second gatekeeper. When the local endpoint further moves to a location serviced by a third zone of the packet-switched network, communication between the local and remote endpoints is maintained via the first gatekeeper and a third gatekeeper, which services the third zone of the packet-switched network, by performing a subsequent hand-off of communication control functions from the second gatekeeper to the third gatekeeper.
Abstract:
Certain aspects of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatus for avoiding conflicts between evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services (eMBMS) operations and paging and/or mobile originated (MO) operations in communication systems. A method for wireless communications by a user Equipment (UE) is provided. The method generally includes identifying at least one evolved Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (eMBMS) session available for receiving one or more eMBMS services from a base station. The method also includes taking one or more actions to reduce a conflict between receiving the one or more eMBMS services from the base station and receiving a paging message from the base station during the eMBMS session. Numerous other aspects are provided.
Abstract:
In an aspect of the present disclosure, presented is a method for wireless communication that includes obtaining at least one transport format combination (TFC), determining a minimum TFC (MinTFC) mode based on at least one TFC state of at least one TFC inside or outside a MinTFC set, and controlling at least one TFC based on the MRAB MinTFC mode. Through this method, pack-switched transmission power can be managed in a manner that will cause a circuit-switched call to function properly in challenging power conditions.
