Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques that allow the user equipment (UE) that initiated single radio voice call continuity (SRVCC) handover during an active voice session from 5G new radio (NR) to 3G legacy system to effectively transition back from 3G legacy systems to 5G NR systems after conclusion of the active voice session. In one example, the UE may override radio resource control (RRC) connection release with evolved universal terrestrial radio access network (E-UTRAN) frequency information that may direct the UE to camp in E-UTRAN cell (LTE cell). In another example, the UE, as a local policy or configuration, may override the UTRAN cell information when the UE is registered in next generation radio access network (NR) cell as 5G capable UE.

Creation of update of a security context between user equipment and MSC/VLR (Mobile Switching Centre/Visitor Location Register) for circuit switched domain services is provided. The creation or update is based on conversion of the security context used in an evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) in the Mobility Management Entity (MME) to a security context for the circuit switched domain target system and transferring it to a MSC/VLR. When user equipment is moved from E-UTRAN to GSM EDGE Radio Access Network/Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (GERAN/UTRAN), a MME does not need to perform authentication and key agreement procedures to establish shared circuit switched security context for the user equipment.

A technique is disclosed to minimize service interruption at a wireless user equipment device during a handover by maintaining dual active connections during the handover. Upon initiating the handover, an initial/first connection with a first access node is maintained while establishing a second connection with a second access node. The user equipment device can receive data over the first connection and second connection during the handover. The first connection may be terminated (by the user equipment device or by timing out due to inactivity) after the handover is completed. The network entity may generate the updated QoS in response to a network load factor for a multicast area aggregated from base stations in the area. The network load factor may indicate a measure of aggregate available bandwidth in the multicast area. The network entity may provide the updated QoS to mobile entities receiving the multicast transmission, which may process a subsequent portion of multicast content according to the updated QoS.

Methods, systems, and devices are described for discontinuous transmission and/or discontinuous reception in time division duplex (TDD) systems that may have data transmission formats dynamically reconfigured. An initial uplink-downlink (UL-DL) configuration for TDD communication between an eNB and user equipment (UE) may be established. This initial UL-DL configuration may be reconfigured to a different UL-DL configuration for one or more UEs in communication with the eNB. When a UE switches to discontinuous reception (DRX) mode, it may monitor control information from the eNB during DRX on periods, a frequency of the DRX on periods based on a reference UL-DL configuration irrespective of any reconfiguration of UL-DL configuration for a particular UE. In some aspects, a UE that is operating in a UL-DL reconfiguration mode may, upon entering DRX mode, autonomously discontinue operating in the UL-DL reconfiguration mode.
