Provided are selected types of terpolymer components comprising terpolymers having monomer units derived from ethylene (E), dicyclopentadiene (DCPD) and norbornene-based (NB) co-monomers. Such terpolymer components have certain specified amounts of each co-monomer as well as certain specified molecular weight and glass transition temperature characteristics. Terpolymer components which are derivatized by hydrogenation and/or by epoxidation and/or hydroxylation are also disclosed, as well as thermoplastic polyolefin compositions which contain the terpolymer components and which have especially desirable structural and thermal properties.Also provided are processes for preparing and derivatizing the terpolymer components herein. Such preparation processes comprise: a) contacting ethylene with a polymerization mixture comprising selected amounts of both DCPD and NB co-monomers, in the presence of a selected activated cyclopentadienyl-fluorenyl metallocene catalyst under specific polymerization conditions to thereby form the desired ethylene-dicyclopentadiene-norbornene terpolymer components within the polymerization mixture. These terpolymer components can then be subsequently derivatized by hydrogenation or functionalization of the residual double bonds therein.

The invention is related to a geminally disubstituted olefin-carbon monoxide-ethylene polymer. The invention is also related to a method for preparing geminally disubstituted olefin-carbon monoxide-ethylene polymers by reacting a geminally disubstituted olefin feed, a carbon monoxide feed and an ethylene feed under free radical polymerization conditions. The invention is further related to a geminally disubstituted olefin-carbon monoxide-ethylene-X polymer, where monomer X is a free radical polymerizable monomer. The invention is also directed to a method for preparing geminally disubstituted olefin-carbon monoxide-ethylene-X polymers by reacting a geminally disubstituted olefin feed, a carbon monoxide feed, an ethylene feed and a feed containing monomer X under free radical polymerization conditions. The polymers of the invention are useful as polyvinyl chloride plasticizers.

The invention is directed towards substantially linear copolymers formed using a metal complex having the formula LMX1X2. L is a bidentate nitrogen-containing ligand with more than 2 nitrogens. M is copper, silver, or gold. X1 and X2 are independently selected from the group consisting of halogens, hydride, triflate, acetate, trifluoroacetate, perfluorotetraphenylborate, tetrafluoroborate, C1 through C12 alkyl, C1 through C12 alkoxy, C3 through C12 cycloalkyl, C3 through C12 cycloalkoxy, aryl, and any other moiety into which a monomer can insert. Such metal complexes have a tetrahedral or pseudo-tetrahedral structure and may be used with an activating cocatalyst. The invention is derived from polymers and copolymers using such catalyst compositions, especially copolymers having segments formed from olefinic monomers and monomers having at least one hydrocarbyl polar functional group.

The invention is related to an olefin-carbon monoxide-vinyl monomer terpolymer composition which is derived from an olefin feed and a synthesis gas feed and at least one vinyl monomer feed. The invention is also related to a method for preparing olefin-carbon monoxide-vinyl monomer terpolymers by heating an olefin feed, a synthesis gas feed and at least one vinyl monomer feed in the presence of a free radical polymerization initiator. More particularly, the synthesis gas feed comprises predominantly carbon monoxide and hydrogen. The terpolymers of the invention are useful as polyvinyl chloride plasticizers.

An oil-soluble lubricating oil and fuel additive, useful as a multifunctional viscosity modifier comprising succinimide and other amine-containing polymers reacted with a quinone or substituted quinone adducts. Suitable polymers are those containing primary or secondary amine groups such as EPSA-PAM and EPDM-amine polymers. The multifunctional viscosity modifier additive provides improved dispersancy and antioxidancy to a lubricating oil or fuel composition.
