    摘要: The coupling of driving shaft with a driven shaft is accomplished at high torques and high speeds of rotation using a piezoelectric shack, a passive clutch system, and a hydraulic clutch activation system. The piezoelectric stack is housed in the rotating driving shaft, and extends along the axis of the shaft when it receives an engagement signal. This extension of the piezoelectric stack depresses a disk spring into the hydraulic cavity of the housing of the hydraulic clutch activation system. The pressure thereby generated in the hydraulic fluid compresses a compression ring onto a control disk and translates any rotation of the compression ring into the control disk. A torsion rod in the center axis of the control disk is rotated and, in turn, rotates a plug connected to a sprag clutch. This rotation serves to rotate the sprags into a locking position so that the sprag clutch engages the driving shaft with the driven shaft.

    摘要: Centrifugal chucking apparatus for fixing a member to be rotated to a rotatable driving member includes a cylindrical cage member adapted to be mounted for rotation with the driving member, at least one clamping body movably mounted within an aperture formed in the cage member and which moves into engagement with the member to be rotated during rotation of the driving member under the action of centrifugal force, and at least one lever member associated with the clamping body and mounted for rotation with the driving and cage members. The lever member mutually engages both the clamping body and the cage member and during rotation of the driving member the lever member is urged outwardly under the action of centrifugal force. The lever member is appropriately positioned so that as a result of this outward urging under centrifugal force, the lever member exerts a force against the clamping body which has a direction to increase the force with which the clamping body engages the member to be rotated. Further, the clamping body is positively braced in engagement with the member to be rotated by the lever member which forms a rigid link interconnecting the cage member and clamping body. This additional bracing prevents any reduction in the clamping force exerted by the clamping body on the member to be rotated which might otherwise result from vibrations or other disturbances which occur during a particular application of the apparatus, e.g., where the member to be rotated is a workpiece which is being treated.

    摘要: A vehicle drive system particularly suited for snow blowers includes a main sprocket rotatably carrying a first and second pawl. Each pawl drivably engages a respective sprocket. The first sprocket is fixably mounted to a first axle means such that rotation of the main sprocket causes the first pawl to drivably engage the first sprocket to rotate the first axle means. A second sprocket is fixably engaged to a second axle means such that rotation of said main sprocket causes a second pawl to drivably engage the second sprocket to cause rotation of the second axle means. Friction means supplies sufficient drag to the pawl such that rotation of main sprocket causes each of the pawls to assume an engaging orientation with their respective sprockets. Each of the pawls can be selectively disengaged from a drive orientation by manually advancing the respective axle means, i.e., when an operator maneuvers the vehicle for turning.

    摘要: A torque transfer mechanism for transferring drive to a pair of tandem driving axles of a vehicle including two double-acting one-way devices each comprised of a plurality of wedging elements and an input shaft having a drive race thereon in operative engagement with the wedging elements. A pair of outer driven races are each adapted to be engaged by said wedging elements and each are drivingly connected to one of a pair of concentric output shafts. Each of said one-way devices has a cage member containing said wedging means and friction means connected to said cage member and in frictional engagement with said driven races. Interlock means interconnect the cage members and permit limited angular displacement therebetween whereby when each of said output shafts are rotating at the same speed said drive race will engage said wedging elements with said driven races to provide positive drive to each of said output shafts and the limited angular displacement of said cages will allow either of said output shafts to rotate faster than the other output shaft by releasing said wedging engagement so that at all times when there is a difference in speed between the output shafts, driving torque is applied to the slower rotating output shaft.

    摘要: A torque-applying hand tool includes a stepless mechanism for turning an object in a desired direction through an unlimited range by swinging the handle thereof. The stepless mechanism comprises a polygonal shaft and rollers each being placed in touch with each side of the polygon shaft. Each roller is selectively forced to one end or the other of each side so that the polygon shaft may be turned in one direction when the tool handle is turned. At one end of the polygon shaft is formed a socket or box shaft to engage with the object to be turned. In such a tool, the stepless mechanism can be made compact with an unlimited turning range of the object.
