    摘要: An assay device includes: a liquid sample zone; a reagent zone downstream and in fluid communication with the sample zone containing a reagent material; a detection zone in fluid communication with the reagent zone having capture elements bound thereto; and a wicking zone in fluid communication with the capture zone having a capacity to receive liquid sample flowing from the detection zone. The sample receiving zone, the reagent zone, the detection zone and the wicking zone define a fluid flow path and at least a part of the fluid flow path has a substrate and projections which extend substantially vertically from the substrate, wherein the projections have a height, cross-section and a distance between one another that defines a space between the projections capable of generating capillary flow parallel to the substrate surface. In addition, the fluid flow path having projections includes a corner section which changes the direction of the flow path. The projections in or around the corner section are modified to maintain the configuration of the flow front of the sample flowing through the flow path after the corner is substantially the same configuration as before the corner.

This testing does not rely on inputs from the software module being tested, and hence is an independent test. Further, a testing mechanism is provided to test the Redundant Error Detection (“RED”) capability itself.

    摘要: A method of detecting impending analytical failure in a networked diagnostic clinical analyzer is based upon detecting whether the operation of a particular analyzer is statistically distinguishable based on one or more thresholds. A failure occurs when one or more components or modules of the analyzer fails. A method to detect such an impending failure is disclosed. Baseline data on a pre-selected set of analyzer variables for a population of diagnostic clinical analyzers is used to generate an impending failure threshold. Subsequently, operational data comprising the same pre-selected set of analyzer variables allows generation of a time series of operational statistics. If the operational statistic exceeds the impeding failure threshold in a prescribed manner, an impending analytical failure is predicted. Such detection of impending analytical failures facilitates intelligent scheduling of service for the analyzer in question to maintain high assay throughput and accuracy.

The combination immunoassays of the present invention employ a non-ionic detergent that effectively exposes or releases the HCV core antigen from virions in a sample without interfering with the performance of other reagents such as the capture of anti-HCV antibodies by recombinant HCV antigens.
