    摘要: N-(4-methoxybenzylidene)-4''-O-n-butyrylaminophenol and 4methoxy- or 4-ethoxybenzylidene-4''-n-butyl aniline form enantiotropic nematic phases which are stable at room temperature or slightly above. If as third component 4-capronylhydroxy benzoic acid-4-4''-alkoxy phenol ester is added wherein alkoxy stands for ethoxy and butoxy, nematic phases are obtained which have melting points below O* C. The new nematogenic mixtures are useful for example as solvents for the NMR-spectroscopy.

The method includes: obtaining a sample whose main component is water; providing Functionalized Paramagnetic Particles (FPP) including a paramagnetic core and a moiety configured to interact with the target biochemical molecular species or with molecules collectively reporting on a property of the target biochemical molecular species; contacting the FPP with the sample; exposing the sample to an applied magnetic field; measuring a change in a nuclear relaxation property of the sample; and correlating the change to the presence of the biochemical molecular species in the sample or to at least one property correlated with the occurrence of the biochemical molecular species in the sample.

    摘要: A method for characterizing regions on a map or image generated from diffusion image data of a region of a patient's body, including: loading into a data processing device image data achieved by calculation from MR diffusion imaging; providing a first threshold level to distinguish pixels with image data values that are above or below the values found that are not representative of pathological portions of the region; providing a second threshold level higher than the first threshold; deriving a measure related to the gradient pattern of those pixels that lie within a margin zone defined by those pixels that satisfy a criterion of the second threshold but do not satisfy a criterion of the first threshold and; outputting the measure related to the gradient as a parameter indicative of the likelihood that the pixels that are within the margin zone and/or a region of the body part are cancerous.
