摘要: Magnetic field detectors include a proof mass suspended by deformable arms similar to a three dimensional accelerometer. The magnetic field detectors further include magnetically sensitive material present on the proof mass and/or deformable arms to cause movement of the proof mass and/or deformable arms when in the presence of a magnetic field. This movement is converted to an electrical signal and that electrical signal is compared to a reference to determine if a magnetic field of interest is present. The magnetic field detector may be included within an implantable medical device, and when the magnetic field detector indicates that a magnetic field of an MRI scanner is present, the implantable medical device may switch to an MRI mode of operation. The device may also switch back to a normal mode of operation once the MRI scanner is no longer detected such as after a predefined amount of time.

摘要: A defibrillator system employs an external ECG monitor (40) and a defibrillator (20). In operation, external ECG monitor (40) generates a synchronized cardioversion input signal as one of an external ECG waveform (50) of a heart (11) of a patient (10) or an external synchronized pulse (51) indicative of a detection by the external ECG monitor (40) of at least one QRS complex of the external ECG waveform (50). Defibrillator (40) includes a synchronized cardioversion input channel (29) for receiving the synchronized cardioversion input signal from external ECG monitor (40), and controls a conditional delivery of a defibrillation shock synchronized with the synchronized cardioversion input signal to the patient (10) in response to the defibrillator (20) receiving the synchronized cardioversion input signal. One condition for shock delivery is a measured time delay between an internal ECG waveform (30) and the synchronized cardioversion input signal being less than a baseline time delay.

摘要: Dislodgement of a defibrillation lead from the right ventricle to the right atrium is a rare complication associated with implantable cardioverter-defibrillators. However, such dislodgement deserves attention out of proportion to its low incidence because of the possibility to cause fatal proarrhythmia. Various embodiments are directed to algorithms for detecting lead dislodgement, including a primary algorithm that operates during baseline rhythm and a secondary algorithm that operates during detection of ventricular tachycardia or ventricular fibrillation to identify lead dislodgement during atrial fibrillation.

摘要: A fail-safe visual indicator (62) for indicating the readiness status of a medical device is described. The visual indicator incorporates iconic status indications (67, 70) which are easier to understand for users of all nationalities and languages. The status indications are superimposed upon each other in order to reduce the space required on the medical device for the indicator.

摘要: An implantable medical device system includes a pacemaker and an extravascular implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD). The pacemaker is configured to acquire a cardiac electrical signal, determine RR intervals from the cardiac electrical signal, apply ventricular tachycardia detection criteria solely to the RR intervals, detect ventricular tachycardia (VT) when the detection criteria are met; and deliver anti-tachycardia pacing in response to detecting the VT before the extravascular ICD delivers a shock therapy.

摘要: The system and method provide for electrocardiogram analysis and optimization of patient-customized cardiopulmonary resuscitation and therapy delivery. An external medical device includes a housing and a processor within the housing. The processor can be configured to receive an input signal for a patient receiving chest compressions and to select at least one filter mechanism and to apply the filter mechanism to the signal to at least substantially remove chest compression artifacts from the signal. A real time dynamic analysis of a cardiac rhythm is applied to adjust and integrate CPR prompting of a medical device. Real-time cardiac rhythm quality is facilitated using a rhythm assessment meter.
