摘要: Improved techniques for customizing fastener tightness by monitoring and managing individual fasteners and fastener driver conditions within varying materials, are provided. In some aspects of the application, fastener tightness is monitored by a control system, and remedial actions are taken when a change in fastener tightness indicates damage or another adverse condition of the fastener or a material in which it is embedded. In other aspects, fastener seating is monitored by a control system, and remedial actions are taken when a change in fastener seating indicates damage or another adverse condition of the fastener or a material in which it is embedded. In some additional aspects, an actuator is located on board a fastener, and remedial actions are applied at the fastener, which may be in a remote location from the control system.

摘要: A metal detector in a cover of a container, including a first winding; an inner winding with a surface area that is less than that of the first winding; and an outer winding with a surface area that is greater than that of the first winding. The inner winding is connected in series with the outer winding such that a magnetic coupling between (a) the first winding and (b) the inner and outer windings connected in series is substantially zero. Shapes, locations and numbers of turns of the inner winding and the outer winding are selected such that the metal detector is less sensitive to a metal object outside the outer winding than inside the outer winding.

摘要: An exemplary method of indicating a condition of grout within a post-tensioned tendon involves positioning a magnet and a metallic sensing plate in close proximity to an outer surface of the post-tensioned tendon; rotating the magnet and the metallic sensing plate around the outer surface of the post-tensioned tendon; measuring an amount of magnetic forces applied to the magnet during rotation of the magnet around the post-tensioned tendon; measuring an impedance between the metallic sensing plate and metallic strands within the post-tensioned tendon during rotation of the metallic sensing plate around the post-tensioned tendon; and generating an image of a cross-section of the post-tensioned tendon indicating one or more grout conditions in spatial proximity to the metallic strands within the post-tensioned tendon based on measurement data using the magnet and the metallic sensing plate.

The sensor includes an output circuit configured to generate an output signal having a first format when a characteristic of the magnetic field signal is within a first range and having a second format different than the first format when the characteristic of the magnetic field signal is within a second range, different than the first range.

摘要: A vehicle navigation system includes an external source sensor onboard a vehicle system that determines headings of the vehicle system. The external source sensor determines the headings using signals received from an off-board, external system. The navigation system also includes a magnetic sensor onboard the vehicle system that measures magnetic fields along different axes at different times. One or more processors determine a combination of the magnetic fields, determine a position translation and/or a magnitude scaling of the combination of the magnetic fields, and modify at least one of the headings based on the position translation and/or the magnitude scaling.
