Abstract: The invention provides an actinically-polymerizable amphiphilic polysiloxane which comprises a polysiloxane polymer chain comprising a polylsiloxane segments comprising at least one siloxane unit having a low molecular weight hydrophilic polymer chain connected with a silicone atom of the siloxane unit, and (meth)acrylamido groups each covalently bonded to one of the ends of the polysiloxane polymer chain and/or to the end of one of low molecular weight hydrophilic polymer chains each connected with one silicone atom. The present invention is also related to a polymer, an actinically-crosslinkable silicone-containing prepolymer, a silicone hydrogel polymeric material, or a silicone hydrogel contact lens, which comprises repeating units derived from an actinically-polymerizable amphiphilic polysiloxane of the invention. In addition, the invention provides a method for making silicone hydrogel contact lenses using a water-based lens-forming formulation comprising an actinically-polymerizable amphiphilic polysiloxane of the invention and/or an actinically-crosslinkable silicone-containing prepolymer of the invention.

Abstract: A room-temperature-curable organopolysiloxane composition contains as essential components (A) an organopolysiloxane shown by the following general formula (1), (B) an alkoxysilane shown by the following general formula (2) or a partial hydrolysate thereof, (C) a silazane compound shown by the following general formula (3), (D) a bismuth compound shown by the following general formula (4) which is in a liquid state at 20° C., a partial hydrolysate thereof, or both of them, (E) one or more fillers, and (F) a silane coupling agent having amine structure or imine structure, in which the composition satisfies [component (C)/component (B)≧1.0]. As a result, a room-temperature-curable organopolysiloxane composition has good curability and storage stability even without containing an organotin compound or an organotitanium compound, has safety in view of toxicity to the human body and environment, and exhibits good rubber physical properties and adhesion after curing.

Abstract: A crosslinked rubber composition, process for preparing same, and a flexible component based on at least one room-temperature vulcanizing “RTV” silicone elastomer and including at least one phase change material (PCM) is provided. The flexible element includes at least one elastomer layer capable of storing thermal energy and of releasing it which includes the crosslinked rubber composition. Also provided is a thermal control or regulating system incorporating the flexible element. The composition is such that the silicone elastomer has a viscosity measured at 23° C. according to the ISO 3219 standard which is less than or equal to 5000 mPa·s. The silicone elastomer includes two components A and B and is crosslinked by polyaddition or polycondensation, and the composition includes the PCM, which is not encapsulated and is in the micronized state, in an amount of greater than 50 phr (phr: parts by weight per hundred parts per elastomer(s)).

Abstract: An adhesive or encapsulant composition, having a siloxane polymer having a molecular weight of from 300 to 150,000 g/mol and having a viscosity of from 1000 to 100,000 mPa-sec at 5 rpm viscometer and at 25° C., and a curing agent that aids in curing the siloxane polymer upon the application of ultraviolet light. The composition is transmissive to visible light with an optical transmissivity of 95% or more in the visible spectrum at a thickness of 1 mm or less, and wherein the siloxane polymer is a material formed without hydrosilylation and has less than 5 mol % of Si—OH groups compared to all groups bound to Si therein, and substantially no Si—H bonds.

Abstract: A flexible-to-rigid tube is flexible when routed and is then rigidized to increase burst strength. According to the preferred embodiments of the present invention, the flexible-to-rigid tube is included in a cooling plate assembly for transferring heat from electronic components mounted on a circuit board. In one embodiment, the flexible-to-rigid tube (while in a flexible state) includes a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) or other silicone containing pendant or terminal epoxy, vinyl and/or acrylate functional groups and an initiator (e.g., a sulfonium salt photoinitiator, a free radical photoinitiator, or a thermal initiator). In another embodiment, triallyl isocyanurate (TAIC) and an initiator are incorporated into a conventional PVC-based tubing material. The flexible-to-rigid tube changes from the flexible state to a rigid state via formation of a cross-linked network upon exposure to actinic radiation or heat.

Abstract: In various aspects, the invention relates to blended thermoplastic polymer compositions (e.g., polycarbonate or polycarbonate-polysiloxane copolymer compositions) comprising recycled acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) polymer or recycled polystyrene polymer which contain at least one impurity and an acid melt flow stabilizer. The presence of the acid melt flow stabilizer improves the thermal stability of the polymer blend. In various further aspects, blended compositions further comprise a flame retardant.
