    摘要: The invention provides an improved furnace structure and methods of melting material in furnaces, particularly aimed at reducing the start up time for such furnaces. The furnace (2) defines a container for the molten metal having a maximum depth of molten metal in that container during use. A flow generator (30) for the molten metal within the furnace is fed through a first conduit (32) and supplies maternal back to the furnace through a second conduit (36). The first conduit entrance is provided in the upper 60% of the maximum depth of the molten metal in the container and/or the second conduit exit is provided in the lower 25% of the maximum depth of the molten metal in the container. The flow generator may receive material preferentially from around the periphery of the container and/or direct material towards the centre of the container. The inlet and outlet to the flow generator my be angled downwards towards the container. All of these features improve heat transfer and material circulation within the furnace.

    摘要: The invention relates to a converter gearing, comprising a gear rim (7), which is connected to the pivoting axis (6) of a converter box, said gear rim being engaged with at least one drive pinion (8) of the converter gearing (9) and at least one locking device, which can be pivoted to engage with and be disengaged from the toothed gearing of the gear rim, (7) in the form of a locking arm (12) that is positioned on a horizontal shaft (10) and configured with toothed gearing (11). The aim of the invention is to improve said locking device. To achieve this, the shaft (10) of the locking arm (12) is mounted in at least one terminal bearing (13, 13′) and the locking arm (12) can be engaged with and disengaged from the toothed gearing of the gear rim (7) in a non-positive manner, preferably by means of active force elements (14, 14′) in its end regions. In addition, the shaft (10) of the locking arm (12) is mounted in the housing of the converter gearing (9) by means of two excentric bushes (4, 5), which rotate freely within one another, at each of its ends. The mounting is configured in such a way, that by the independent rotation of the same, an ideal mutual engagement position of the two interacting toothed gearing regions of the locking device (12) and the gear rim (7) can be set.

At least one steel ladle is loaded with steel melt below the metallurgical furnace and is moved between the metallurgical furnace and the further processing system. In the region of its upper half, the steel ladle is equipped with a carrying mechanism which includes diametrically oppositely disposed running wheels. The steel ladle is movable in a suspended position between the metallurgical furnace, and the further processing system on rails which are adapted to the carrying mechanism.

    摘要: An easily stored and used disposable cover for the opening of a molten metal type ladle is disclosed, which uses transverse ribs of green hardwood above a blanket made up of ceramic fabric batting. The ribs are tied together into an array by means of flexible wires running longitudinally across the ribs and secured to them. The ribs are sized to span across the ladle opening and to hold the blanket thereover, and the cover may be easily rolled up longitudinally so as to assume an easily stored, handled and shipped roll shape. A plurality of wide headed nails hold a sheet of plastic or like material and the blanket to the ribs. The sheet serves to protect the blanket from tearing or catching or binding together and allows it to be unrolled and handled more easily. A wire end handling loop is also provided at the longitudinal ends to aid in placing the cover over the ladle.
