Abstract: A semiconductor device of planar structure has a pn-junction (10) formed by a first layer (1) doped according to a first conductivity type, n or p, and on top thereof a second layer (2) doped according to a second conductivity type. The second layer has a higher doping concentration than the first layer and a lateral edge thereof is provided with an edge termination with second zones of said second conductivity type separated by first zones (4) of said first conductivity type arranged so that the total charge and/or the effective sheet charge density of dopants according to said second conductivity type is decreasing towards the laterally outer border (8) of the edge termination. A third layer (5) doped according to said first conductivity type is arranged on top of said second layer at least in the region of the edge termination for burying the edge termination of the device thereunder.

Abstract: A method for detecting a fault in a robot joint includes the steps of: performing a first torque measurement at the robot joint to thereby obtain a first set of torque values; calculating a first distribution characteristic reflecting a distribution of the first set of torque values; performing a second torque measurement at the robot joint to thereby obtain a second set of torque values; calculating a second distribution characteristic reflecting a distribution of the second set of torque values; and comparing the first and the second distribution characteristics to determine whether a fault is present or not. A difference in the distributions of torque measurements is a robust fault indicator that makes use of the repetitive behavior of the system.

Abstract: Among other things, one or more techniques and/or systems are provided for identifying event images captured during an event associated with power equipment, such as a maintenance action. An entity, such as a maintenance technician, is equipped with an image recorder and an audio recorder. In some embodiments, the image recorder and/or audio recorder are wearable, such as mounted to eyewear and/or headwear worn by the entity. Audio that is recorded by the audio recorder is processed to identify events (e.g., key actions in a maintenance procedure). Based upon the identification of an event from the audio, event images (e.g., images captured temporally proximate to when the event was identified in the audio) associated with the event are identified and stored in a library. In some embodiments, one or more of such event images are later displayed to entities via a heads-up display, for example.

Abstract: A rotor for a synchronous reluctance machine wherein a torque ripple behaviour of the machine is optimized by altering the geometry of insulating barriers of the rotor. A q-axis pitch angle is used as a design variable instead of setting its value equal to the rest of the rotor slot pitches or binding its value to the stator slot pitch. The resulting rotor has a non-regular slot pitch across the q-axis and substantially regular slot pitch otherwise. Synchronous reluctance machines that employ rotor discs and rotor assemblies in accordance with the present invention may exhibit low torque ripple without sacrificing high torque values.

A winding is wound around one of the at least one core leg. The transformer arrangement further includes an external passive electric component connected between the first intermediate end point and either the second intermediate end point or the second winding terminal arranged to decrease an effective difference between capacitive and inductive voltage distributions between the intermediate end points such that transient voltage oscillations in the winding are mitigated.

Abstract: Method of protecting a distribution network with a line interconnecting busbars, each busbar being connectable, by means of switching devices adjacent to the busbar, to the line and to loads and/or generators. The method divides the distribution network in multiple protection areas, each comprises a busbar, a protection device and an area controller. Upon a change in connect status of a distribution feeder line, load or generator connectable to one of the busbar, the logic controller in this protection area re-calculates the short circuit level of the areas. Based on the recalculated short circuit levels, the protection settings of the areas may be adapted. The embodiment also provides a system and computer program product adapted to perform the method.

Abstract: A protection relay is disclosed that generates a trip signal to operate a circuit breaker in case of a fault condition. A first module provides measurement and analysis of power parameters of the power line connecting the power equipment that is being protected, the protection being provided by generating a first trip signal for operating a circuit breaker connected in the power line. One or more second modules can boost performance of the protection relay by measurement and analysis of power parameters-to generate a second trip signal for operating a circuit breaker connected in the power line. The first trip signal and the second trip signal are logically combined to generate a trip signal that operates the circuit breaker.

Abstract: A relay interface module that is commutatively connectable to at least one I/O device and a controller, wherein the relay interface module is configured to provide data from the I/O device to at least one controller in a distributed control system (DCS) via a communication interface. An application related to a particular I/O device may then be executed freely on any controller present in a DCS without losing real time connection with the associated I/O device. Data can be transferred from an I/O device to an associated application executed on a controller such that the real time connection between the I/O device and the application being executed is maintained.
