Upon determining (203) that a stored configuration is available from the bus, fetch (204) the stored configuration from the bus and start operation of the electronic fuse system according to the fetched configuration. Upon determining (203) that a stored configuration is not available from the bus, determining (205) if a stored configuration is available from the connectable external main processor. Upon determining (205) that a stored configuration is available from the connectable external main processor, fetch (206) the configuration from the connectable external main processor and start operation of the electronic fuse system according to the fetched configuration. Protection can be achieved in tandem with optimal power on trip time and with integrated logic for inrush discrimination. The self supplied protection relay can include a current processing module to measure and evaluate line current to generate a trip signal, and to suppress inrush current to block earth fault detection during an inrush condition and thereby increase sensitivity of fault detection.

A first module provides measurement and analysis of power parameters of the power line connecting the power equipment that is being protected, the protection being provided by generating a first trip signal for operating a circuit breaker connected in the power line. One or more second modules can boost performance of the protection relay by measurement and analysis of power parameters-to generate a second trip signal for operating a circuit breaker connected in the power line. The first trip signal and the second trip signal are logically combined to generate a trip signal that operates the circuit breaker.

    摘要: A circuit interrupter includes a trip actuator configured to cooperate with an operating mechanism to trip open separable contacts. The circuit interrupter also includes a ground fault sensor configured to sense a difference between a current through a first electrical conductor and a current through a second electrical conductor and to output an output current based on the sensed difference and a ground fault amplifier circuit configured to convert the output current to an output voltage. The circuit interrupter also includes first and second switches configured to electrically connect the output of the ground fault sensor to the ground fault amplifier circuit and the trip actuator, respectively. The circuit interrupter also includes a processor configured to control operation of the first and second switches and, when the first switch is closed, to control operation of the trip actuator based on the output voltage.

The overload relay includes a power supply having a voltage, a processor powered by the power supply voltage and being structured to control the contactor, and an overvoltage circuit. The overvoltage circuit includes a voltage reference having a voltage, a comparator, a load and a switch. The comparator includes a first input for the power supply voltage, the first input cooperating with the voltage of the voltage reference to determine a threshold voltage, a second input for voltage reference voltage, and an output. The switch is controlled by the comparator output and is structured to electrically connect the power supply voltage to ground through the load whenever the power supply voltage exceeds the threshold voltage.

    摘要: A circuit breaker and method for interrupting the flow of electric current in a line includes connecting separable contacts to a conductor in the circuit. An actuating device, actuated by an activating signal, is connected to the separable contacts to effect separation of the contacts wherein the flow of electric current in the circuit is interrupted. A current sensor, such as an iron core current transformer, senses the current in the circuit to provide a first sinusoidal signal. A bridge rectifier is connected to the current sensor wherein the first sinusoidal signal is converted to a rectified signal and power is derived from the rectified signal. An interface circuit connected to the rectifying network converts the rectified signal into a second sinusoidal signal for providing the activating signal to the actuating device at a predetermined magnitude of the first sinusoidal signal. The interface circuit includes generating a sign bit indicative of the polarity of the first sinusoidal signal. A switch, such as a complimentary metal-oxide silicon (CMOS) switch, generates a positive half-wave rectified signal and a negative half-wave rectified signal from the rectified signal and the sign bit. The negative half-wave rectified signal is inverted and the positive half-wave rectified signal and the inverted negative half-wave rectified signal are summed and level shifted relative to the magnitude of the first sinusoidal signal to generate a second sinusoidal signal in phase with the first sinusoidal signal.

    摘要: A current sensor has a closed loop magnetic flux concentrating ferromagnetic core with a gap and a central aperture for receiving a conductor. A Hall generator is positioned in the gap and a secondary winding is positioned on a portion of the core. Current flow in the conductor creates magnetic flux in the core which energizes the secondary winding to provide a power output. Magnetic flux concentrated in the gap causes the Hall generator to output a sensing signal that is proportional to the magnetic flux which is proportional to the current flow in the conductor. The single core is used to simultaneously produce a sensing signal proportional to alternating or direct current flow in the conductor.
