摘要: Disclosed is a fault monitoring method for a multi-port internal passive load-free probabilistic load flow (PLF) electric network. Current transformers are installed on the conductors. Currents from the current transformers are transformed into voltages, and the voltages are then converted into pulses by a voltage-to-frequency conversion (VFC) circuit. The pulses are transmitted via optical fiber to a comparison module, and an algebraic sum of all pulse counts is calculated. It is stipulated that when an installation direction of the current transformer is the same as a direction of the port pointing to the PLF electric network, the pulse count is positive, and when the installation direction of the current transformer is opposite to the direction of the port pointing to the PLF electric network, the pulse count is negative. When the algebraic sum exceeds a threshold, it is determined that a fault has occurred within the PLF electric network. This method is designed for an electric network where the direction of power transmission is uncertain, and can promptly and accurately detect whether faults such as single-phase grounding and interphase short-circuiting have occurred within the electric network. The method achieves advantages such as fast fault response, and precise and timely detection.

摘要: Safety power disconnection for remote power distribution in power distribution systems is disclosed. The power distribution system includes one or more power distribution circuits each configured to remotely distribute power from a power source over current carrying power conductors to remote units to provide power for remote unit operations. A remote unit is configured to decouple power from the power conductors thereby disconnecting the load of the remote unit from the power distribution system. A current measurement circuit in the power distribution system measures current flowing on the power conductors and provides a current measurement to the controller circuit. The controller circuit is configured to disconnect the power source from the power conductors for safety reasons in response to detecting a current from the power source in excess of a threshold current level indicating a load.

摘要: Systems and methods for fault detection and protection in electric power systems that evaluates electromagnetic transients caused by faults. A fault can be detected using sampled data from a first monitored point in the power system. Detection of fault transients and associated characteristics, including transient direction, can also be extracted through evaluation of sample data from other monitored points in the power system. A monitoring device can evaluate whether to trip a switching device in response to the detection of the fault and based on confirmation of an indication of detection of fault transients at the other monitored points of the power system. The determination of whether to trip or activate the switching device can also be based on other factors, including the timing of receipt of an indication of the detection of the fault transients and/or an evaluation of the characteristics of the detected transients.

摘要: A method for fault location and isolation in a power distribution network, where the network includes a plurality of switching devices provided along a feeder, and at least one of the switching devices does not have voltage sensing capabilities. The method includes detecting an overcurrent event in the network from the fault and interrupting the overcurrent event by opening and then immediately locking out or subsequently reclosing and testing the fault. A count value is increased in each switching device that detected the overcurrent event. A message is sent from each of the switching devices that detected the overcurrent event and then detected the loss of voltage upstream to an upstream neighbor switching device. Current measurements in the messages, measured current by the devices and the counts values in the devices determine what devices are opened to isolate the fault.

摘要: A method of configuring actual Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs) into a substation automation system (SAS) of a power system that runs a substation process. An IED data repository stores IED information including a plurality of logical node classes (LNs), where each LN includes a plurality of data objects as LN type definitions that represent at least bay level functions including control and monitoring outputs from the primary devices or protecting the primary devices. Using an LN type generator, selection of LNs is performed from the plurality of LNs based on functions for implementing at least one single line diagram (selected LNs) that represents the SAS. From the selected LNs a pre-configured IED strategy is generated to represent at a first actual IED to control and automate the substation process in a format understood by the SAS. The pre-configured IED strategy is saved into the IED data repository.

摘要: A method for detecting a fault in an energy supply network. State values are determined for a plurality of measuring points. The state values, which specify an electrical state of the energy supply network at the respective measuring point, are transmitted to a control center. The state values are used by an evaluation device for detecting a fault in the energy supply network. In order to detect errors in energy supply networks with low short-circuit currents with high reliability and selectivity, the evaluation device performs a state estimation, using a model description of the supply network suitable for describing possible electrical states of the energy supply network on the basis of state variables. The estimation examines whether an electrical state at least approximately matches the respective state values, can be described by the model description. If such a state is lacking, the evaluation device generates an fault detection signal.

摘要: A ZSI testing apparatus includes a fault generation circuit, a plurality of cable assemblies coupled to the fault generation circuit, wherein the cable assemblies are structured to be selectively coupled to selected circuit interrupters, a human machine interface, and a controller coupled. The controller is configured to: (i) selectively cause a fault current to be provided to a number of the cable assemblies, (ii) receive an input from each circuit interrupter that is coupled to one of the cable assemblies, each input being indicative of a trip signal output of the circuit interrupter, (iii) determine based on the received inputs (a) that an error has occurred with respect to operation of the circuit interrupters and (b) a recommendation for fixing the error, and (iv) cause an output indicative of the error and the recommendation to be provided on the human machine interface.

摘要: A power supply apparatus supplies a bus voltage VBUS to a power receiving apparatus via a cable. A power supply circuit generates the bus voltage VBUS. The bus switch SW is arranged on a path of a bus line extending from the output of the power supply circuit. A power supply side controller is capable of communicating with a power receiving side controller of the power receiving apparatus. The power supply side controller determines the voltage to be supplied, based on a negotiation result. Furthermore, the power supply side controller controls the bus switch SW. When a predetermined state repeatedly occurs in the power supply circuit, a short circuit detection circuit judges that a short-circuit abnormality has occurred.

摘要: Exemplary embodiments are directed to use of transparent transmission of teleprotection commands in the form of GOOSE or GSSE messages, as defined by the Generic Substation Event class model by the standard IEC 61850, between substations combined with Channel Supervision and Monitoring equivalent to CSM offered by known teleprotection equipment. This approach avoids the disadvantage of non-transparent transmission when using the gateway approach and of the lack of the CSM functionality when using the tunnelling approach.
