摘要: Amide-containing polymers characterized by the presence of piperazine amide and/or substituted piperazine amide in the polymer chain are used as adsorbents to remove polyphenolic compounds from liquids. The compositions are especially useful in combination with protein removal agents such as silica gel or tannin. The amide-containing polymer compositions (alone or in combination with protein removal agents) are especially useful in the stabilization and/or chillproofing of plant derived liquids or beverages such as beer, wine, fruit juice and vegetable juice.

摘要: The present invention provides a peelable laminate suitable for cook-in packaging and a method of cooking a food product. The method includes the steps of: a) enclosing a food product in the peelable laminate, the peelable laminate having (1) an edible film in contact with the food product, and (2) a protective film peelably adhered to the edible film; and b) heating the enclosed food product to at least partially cook the food product, the edible layer adhering to the at least partially cooked food product with an adhesive strength which is greater than the force required to peel the protective film from the edible film. In this manner, the protective film can be peeled from the edible film after cooking without product loss due to adherence of food particles to the film. Furthermore, the peelable laminate prevents or minimizes cook-out and allows a modifier to be transferred to the food product via the edible film during the cooking process.

摘要: A method and apparatus for enclosing a product in a tray having an outwardly extending flange is provided. A permeable web is secured to an inner periphery of flange and the secured portion is severed from the web to form a permeable lid. An impermeable web is then secured to an outer periphery of the flange and then severed from the web to form a peelable, impermeable lid. The outer periphery of the flange is protected from damage when the permeable lid is severed from the permeable web by elevating the permeable web above the outer periphery of the flange and severing the web at the elevated portion. If a fresh red meat product is to be packaged, the tray may be at least partially evacuated and then at least partially filled with a gas which is lower in oxygen content than air. Prior to retail sale, the impermeable lid may be removed to cause the packaged meat product to bloom to a red color.

摘要: In the manufacture and use of tubular casing material, a starting material having heat-shrinkable properties is partially shrunk to a controlled reduced calibre and then is further shrunk during use. The shrinking may either take place during use, for example by partially shrinking tubular film material over a stuffing horn or may be carried out during manufacture by partially shrinking a length of tubular film material to a controlled reduced calibre before sale.

摘要: An exemplary skid-resistant roofing underlayment provides a pressure-sensitive membrane attached to a carrier support sheet having at least two different plastic films, the carrier sheet being corrugated with ridges in the machine direction to provide skid resistance when the underlayment is installed on a sloped roof. Especially preferred are corrugated, cross-laminated composites having a polypropylene or high density polyethylene layer co-extruded with a linear low density polyethylene layer. An exemplary method for making the roofing underlayment involves corrugating at least two different plastic film layers to provide a carrier support sheet for a waterproofing membrane adhesive layer.
