Abstract: A method and apparatus of Inter prediction for video coding using Multi-hypothesis (MH) are disclosed. If an MH mode is used for the current block: at least one MH candidate is derived using reduced reference data by adjusting at least one coding-control setting; an Inter candidate list is generated, where the Inter candidate list comprises said at least one MH candidate; and current motion information associated with the current block is encoded using the Inter candidate list at the video encoder side or the current motion information associated with the current block is decoded at the video decoder side using the Merge candidate list. The coding control setting may correspond to prediction direction setting, filter tap setting, block size of reference block to be fetched, reference picture setting or motion limitation setting.

Abstract: A video processing method is provided, including: performing a conversion between a coded representation of a video including one or more video regions and the video, wherein the coded representation includes reshaping model information applicable for in-loop reshaping (ILR) of some of the one or more video regions, wherein the reshaping model information provides information for a reconstruction of a video unit of a video region based on a representation in a first domain and a second domain and/or scaling chroma residue of a chroma video unit, wherein the reshaping model information includes a parameter set that includes a first syntax element that derives a number of bits used to represent a second syntax element specifying an absolute delta codeword value from a corresponding bin, and wherein the first syntax element has a value smaller than a threshold.

Abstract: An encoding device evaluates a plurality of processing and/or post-processing algorithms and/or methods to be applied to a video stream, and signals a selected method, algorithm, class or category of methods/algorithms either in an encoded bitstream or as side information related to the encoded bitstream. A decoding device or post-processor utilizes the signaled algorithm or selects an algorithm/method based on the signaled method or algorithm. The selection is based, for example, on availability of the algorithm/method at the decoder/post-processor and/or cost of implementation. The video stream may comprise, for example, downsampled multiplexed stereoscopic images and the selected algorithm may include any of upconversion and/or error correction techniques that contribute to a restoration of the downsampled images.

Abstract: A deblocking method is provided for deblocking a sub-partition boundary within a coding block during image encoding and/or image decoding process. The coding block is coded in an intra prediction mode and the coding block is partitioned into sub-partitions comprising a first sub-partition and a second sub-partition that is adjacent to the first sub-partition. The method comprises: determining a maximum filter length to be 1 for a first/second sub-partition when a width of the first or second sub-partition is 4 samples, or when a height of the first or second sub-partition is 4 samples; modifying a value of up to one sample of the first or second sub-partition, wherein the value of the up to one sample is obtained from a row or a column of the first or second sub-partition that is perpendicular to and adjacent to the sub-partitions boundary between the first sub-partition and the second sub-partition.

Abstract: Techniques for signaling of sample adaptive offset (SAO) information that may reduce the coding rate for signaling such information in the compressed bit stream are provided. More specifically, techniques are provided that allow SAO information common to two or more of the color components to be signaled using one or more syntax elements (flags or indicators) representative of the common information. These techniques reduce the need to signal SAO information separately for each color component.

Abstract: A video decoding method according to an embodiment of the present invention may include determining a type of a filter to be applied to a first-layer picture which a second-layer picture as a decoding target refers to; determining a filtering target of the first-layer picture to which the filter is applied; filtering the filtering target based on the type of the filter; and adding the filtered first-layer picture to a second-layer reference picture list. Accordingly, the video decoding method and an apparatus using the same may reduce a prediction error in an upper layer and enhance encoding efficiency.
