摘要： Process and apparatus for the manufacture of integral roller door structures of any desired length and width, and comprising longitudinally juxtaposed slats separated by integral hinge formations. Such a structure having slats of any desired length can be produced by a semi continuous moulding process in which a molten plastics material and a foaming agent are injected into a mould, the part of the structure so formed being allowed to solidify before removing the solidified structure partially from the mould, then closing mould about the remaining portion of the structure, thereafter moulding a further part of the structure within the mould onto the remaining portion of the previously moulded part and repeating the cycle as often as required. A product of any desired width, measured transversely to the salts, can be produced by welding, edge-to-edge a plurality of lengths of the product produced by the moulding technique, by means of an apparatus incorporating a heated knife which is advanced along the gap between opposing edge faces of the lengths of moulded structure to be welded, to fuse the material of said opposing faces, and further incorporating an extruder which follows the knife and injects molten plastics into said gap to unite with the plasticized opposing edge portions and form a uniform weld, the temperatures of the knife and the extrudate being independently controllable to prevent, substantially, distortion of the product being produced by the welding step.

摘要： An expandable collapsible product is made by providing a pleated sheet (8,10) having legs (20) which are made by securing two parts of a fold (17) together. Two sheets are combined by securing the end of a leg (20) to a crease (16) or a leg (20) of an opposite sheet. The sheet material is folded to preferably provide alternating taller folds (17) and shorter folds (16), and the taller folds are modified to provide the legs (20) by gluing parts of the taller folds (17) together. Gluing is accomplished by moving glue heads across the sheet at high velocity through the use of linear motors. The glue lines are heated after being laid down by the use of electro-magnetic radiation, preferably from a high-powered laser. The finished product is used as insulated window coverings, or the like.

摘要： A covering for an architectural feature having generally horizontal vane elements coupled to and located between generally front and rear generally vertical support members, which in preferred embodiments are adjustable to control the amount of light transmitted through the covering. In one embodiment the covering has three dimensional multi-layered, cellular vanes, and in another embodiment, the one or more support members are formed of a dark color, the rear support member(s) may be formed of material that is darker than the front support member(s), or vise versa. In another embodiment, the support members, e.g., sheers, have an openness factor, preferably as low as about sixty-five percent (65%) to as large as about ninety percent (90%). Other embodiments include structure, assemblies and methods for controlling the closure of the covering as well as embodiments of bottom rail assemblies. Also provided is a method of manufacturing the covering.
