    摘要： An apparatus and method for joining together two or more fabric components without thread, the components including at least one ultrasonically bondable component. The apparatus comprises an ultrasonic horn operable to emit ultrasonic energy through a fabric-engaging end face thereof, and a rotatable anvil support having an outer peripheral surface on which one or a plurality of anvil supports are formed. The anvil support and the horn are arranged so as to define a nip between the respective fabric-engaging surfaces thereof for receiving the components to be joined. The anvil support rotates about an axis thereof as the components pass through the nip such that the outer peripheral surface of the anvil support defining the anvil structures is stationary relative to the components passing through the nip. The horn emits ultrasonic energy and the anvil structures focus the ultrasonic energy on one or more regions of the at least one ultrasonically bondable component contacted by the anvil structure(s) so as to locally heat and bond the one or more regions.

    摘要： An apparatus and method for applying adhesive on opposite edges of a longitudinal slit formed in a tubular body of resilient insulation material is provided. The apparatus includes a conveyor which moves the tubular body along a conveyor path. A feed assembly feeds a pair of tape strips along separate feed paths so that an adhesive applicator located adjacent to each feed path at an application point applies adhesive to a surface of the tape strip as it is fed along the feed path. A wedge-shaped plow is formed from a pair of flat plates which converge at an acute angle toward one another. The flat plates each have a leading edge which directs each tape strip from the feed paths along an exterior surface of one of the plates along lines parallel with the conveyor path. The lead edges of the plates engage the slit of the tubular body as the tubular body is moved along the conveyor path so that the edges of the slit are directed along the exterior surfaces of the plates with the edges of the slit contacting the tape strips. This causes the tape strips and adhesive to be applied to the opposite edges of the slit. A mandrel supports the tubular body as it is moved along the conveyor path into engagement with the plow so that the tubular body is held in a substantially tubular form.

    摘要： A machine for on-site folding and securing a tape to an unfinished edge of a carpet. A housing rolls under the carpet. A heating unit is contained in the housing and heats the tape to melt an adhesive thereon. A die is interchangeably mounted to the housing and has the tape feed therethrough to be folded and attached to the carpet by way of the melted adhesive thereon. A first embodiment of the die has spaced-apart bottom and a top walls to receive the tape therebetween. A second embodiment of the die further has a pair of flanges extending outwardly from free edges of the bottom and top walls, respectively. The pair of flanges fold inwardly onto the bottom and top walls, respectively, and are spaced a slight distance from the bottom and top walls, respectively, so as to form a pair of guides that receive the tape.
