Abstract:
A breathing gas-carrying patient connection (2) for the artificial respiration of a patient (1) by an anesthesia apparatus or respirator (3) with one or more sensors (9, 10, 11) for detecting patient-relevant measured variables and with a telemetric transmission of the sensor data from the patient connection (2) to a machine-side connection element (13) for the patient connection (2), wherein the telemetric transmission of the sensor data is designed for wireless bidirectional communication between the patient connection (2) and the connection element (13), makes possible the reliable transmission of data into the machine-side connection element (13).
Abstract:
A cosmetic applicator, comprising a sponge to absorb substance and prevent leakage thereof is provided herein. The sponge having an elastic open-cell of a three-dimensional membrane structure of elastic polymer and is double over molded in combination with the rigid plastic base. The sponge has predefined density enabling to absorb the substance and skin surface having predefined thickness to prevent a spontaneous release of the substance. The substance may be squeezed out of the sponge only when applying pressure on the sponge. A Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag is integrated to the rigid plastic base to allow information related storage.
Abstract:

Electronic circuitry configured to detect at least one of a first magnetic interaction between a magnet and at least one of a first magnetically attractive material and a first magnet-responsive device and a second magnetic interaction between the magnet and at least one of a second magnetically attractive material and a second magnet-responsive device, and to provide a signal or a change in state in response to detecting at least one of the interactions.
Abstract:
A dialysis system comprising: a dialysis machine; a communication module configured to communicate using a short-range wireless technology protocol; data storage configured to store data corresponding to identities of one or more short-range wireless devices; and a processor configured to: identify presence of a short-range wireless device; and cause the dialysis machine to carry out an action when one or both of i) the presence of the short-range wireless device is identified, and ii) the presence of the short-range wireless device is no longer identified.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a pump device having a pump (8) and an energy supply device (5, 18), wherein the pump has a conveying element (9, 11) which conveys a fluid by means of supplied energy, wherein the pump has a transport state and an operating state, and wherein at least one first element (9, 9a, 10, 10′, 11) of the pump has a different shape and/or size in the transport state than in the operating state. The operating safety of such a pump device is increased by a detection device (12, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 27, 28, 29) which detects whether at least the first element is in the operating state with respect to shape and/or size by means of a sensor.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to a medical diagnostic and delivery device includes a dipstick type device. The device include cartridge containing one more substance or medicaments configured to be delivered to a user in the form a liquid, particles, or fine mist. In particular embodiments, the device can include a heating element to vaporize the substance and deliver the vapor to a user. In various embodiments, the device includes one or more sensors configured to analyze the one or substances or medications contained within the cartridge and sense, detect or otherwise determine an expiration date of the substance or medication.
Abstract:
A vaporization and inhalation apparatus comprising a cartridge container configured to receive a cartridge including a liquid. The apparatus includes a heating element configured to heat the liquid to a point of vaporization to generate a vaporized form of the liquid. The apparatus also includes an outlet port through which the vaporized form of the liquid is inhaled.
Abstract:
An implantable infusion pump possesses operational functionality that is, at least in part, controlled by software operating in two processor ICs which are configured to perform some different and some duplicate functions. The pump exchanges messages with an external device via telemetry. Each processor controls a different part of the drug infusion mechanism such that both processors must agree on the appropriateness of drug delivery for infusion to occur. Delivery accumulators are incremented and decremented with delivery requests and with deliveries made. When accumulated amounts reach or exceed, quantized deliverable amounts, infusion is made to occur. The accumulators are capable of being incremented by two or more independent types of delivery requests. Operational modes of the infusion device are changed automatically in view of various system errors that are trapped, various system alarm conditions that are detected, and when excess periods of time lapse between pump and external device interactions.
Abstract:
A system for manipulation of a tissue sample includes a chassis, a chamber defined in the chassis and configured to receive and retain a complimentary device including a sample processing compartment disposed between sheets of a flexible material and a waste chamber disposed between the sheets of the flexible material. The complimentary device is configured to retain the tissue sample during manipulation of the tissue sample by the system. A fluid mixing sub-system is configured to agitate and mix a fluid including the tissue sample within the sample processing compartment. A temperature control sub-system including at least one of a first heating element and a first cooling element is configured and arranged to be in thermal communication with the sample processing compartment. An electronic controller is in communication with, and programmed to control operation of the fluid mixing sub-system and the temperature control sub-systems.
Abstract:
There is provided a method of determining whether a first type of liquid is being used in a nebulizer, the method comprising obtaining a measurement of the time taken by the nebulizer to nebulize a specified volume of liquid that was held therein, comparing the time taken to nebulize the specified volume of liquid to an estimated value for the time required to nebulize the same volume of the first type of liquid, and determining whether the liquid nebulized by the nebulizer was the first type of liquid based on the comparison.
