摘要: Disclosed are biaxially oriented, multilayered films, wherein said films may include a core layer comprising linear, low-density polyethylene, and the core layer is optionally cavitated. Said films may further include a first skin layer on a first side of the core layer, and a second skin layer on a second side of the core layer, wherein the first skin layer and the second skin layer comprise thin layers of linear, low-density polyethylene of a same or different type. Further, said films may include an aqueous-based primer on an outer surface of the second skin layer, wherein the outer surface faces away from the core layer. Further still, said films may include a sealant coating layer on the first skin layer and a barrier coating layer on the second skin layer, wherein the sealant coating layer and the barrier coating layer are aqueous-based.

摘要: In one example embodiment, disclosed is a biaxially oriented multilayer film, which may include a first tie layer and a second tie layer, wherein each has an inside surface and an outside surface. The film's core layer may consist of: (i) at least 50 wt. % high-crystalline polypropylene; (ii) both cyclic olefin copolymer and polypropylene homopolymer, or, polypropylene heterophasic copolymer; (iii) and, optionally, additives, wherein the core layer is between the inside surface of the first tie layer and the inside surface of the second tie layer. The film may also include a first skin layer on the outside surface of the first tie layer and a second skin layer on the outside surface of the second tie layer, wherein shrinkage is less than 3.5% in a transverse direction for the biaxially oriented multilayer film after subjecting the biaxially oriented multilayer film to 135° C. for 7 min at 1 atm.

摘要: Disclosed are compositions and methods for multilayer films, which, in one embodiment may comprise a core layer comprising at least 50 wt. % of high-density polyethylene. Further, the multilayer film may include a first skin layer consisting essentially of one or more ethylene-propylene copolymers. Further still, the multilayer film may include a second skin layer consisting essentially of one or more ethylene-propylene-butylene terpolymers. And yet further, the multilayer film may be oriented in at least one direction, and at least two layers of the multilayer film are coextruded.

摘要: Disclosed are transparent films having a core comprising at least 50 wt. % high-density polyethylene and, optionally, 50 wt. % or less of linear low-density polyethylene. Further, the transparent films may have a printable skin layer adjacent to a first side of the core, wherein the printable skin layer may comprise, consists essentially of or consists of linear low-density polyethylene or ethylene-propylene copolymer. Further, the transparent films may have a skin layer adjacent to a second side of the core, wherein the skin layer may comprise, consists essentially of or consists of linear low-density polyethylene or ethylene-propylene copolymer. Further still, the transparent films may be oriented in at least one direction and have a directional modulus of at least 1200 MPa. Such transparent films may be laminated to a laminating substrate, such as a biaxially oriented polyethylene single or multilayer film, to produce a laminated film with remarkable sealing and integrity.

摘要: This disclosure provides compositions, films, labels, structures and methods that may include a substrate having a first side and a second side, wherein the first side comprises a skin layer comprising at least 50 wt. % of high-density polyethylene. Further, the compositions may include a coating on the skin layer, wherein the coating comprises a topcoat and a primer, wherein the topcoat consists of: (i) at least 50 wt. % high-density polyethylene and one or more polyethylene polymers in water; (ii) wax, silicone or combination thereof; and (iii) optionally additives, whereupon imaging the composition by a thermal print head at a temperature of 300° C. or less results in no or negligible solvent-penetrability beneath the skin layer.

摘要: Disclosed are methods, compositions, structures and uses for a biaxially oriented, multilayered film that may include a core layer comprising LLDPE, such as mLLDPE, wherein the core layer is flanked by a first skin layer and a second skin layer. This same type (e.g., melting index, density, and/or melting peak) of LLDPE, or different type(s) or blends thereof may be in the first skin layer and/or the second skin layer, wherein the first skin layer is located on a first side of the core layer, and the second skin layer is located on a second of the core layer, wherein the first side is on an opposite side of the core layer as compared to the second side. The biaxially oriented, multilayered film may have a sealing strength of at least 400 g/cm at 100° C. under a pressure of 41 N/cm2 at a dwell time of 0.75 s.

摘要: Disclosed is a multilayered film that includes a core layer that includes one or more polymers, wherein the core has a first side and a second side and is optionally oriented. Further, the multilayered film includes a sealing layer comprising a primer and a sealing coating, wherein the primer has a primer coating weight from 0.05 to 0.5 g/m2 and is located between the first side of the core and a first side of the sealing coating, wherein the sealing coating has a sealing coating weight from 0.5 to 20.0 g/m2, wherein the multilayered film has a seal strength of at least 1 kg/in at 120° C. In various embodiments, the films showed outstanding seal strength, hot tack for both clear and white films over a broad temperature range, seal integrity under the Skye test, low blocking, and other desirable performance metrics.

摘要: Disclosed is a coating composition and coated film having the coating composition adhered thereto in which the coating composition comprises particulate filler; binder composition comprising acrylic polymer and ethylene acrylic acid copolymers; non-cross-linking adhesion promoter; and optionally urethane polymer, styrene-acrylic copolymer, or a combination thereof; and wherein cross-linker(s) are substantially absent from the composition; and wherein the coated film has a 45° Gloss (ASTM D2457) of less than 30 or 25 or 20 or 15. The coated film is useful for pressure sensitive labels for thermal transfer ribbon printing labels.
