The applications where these properties are valuable include but are not limited to: 1) additive manufacturing (“3D printing”) involving metallic, ceramic, cermet, polymer, plastic, or other dry or solvent-suspended powders or gels, 2) concrete materials, 3) solid propellant materials, 4) cermet materials, 5) granular armors, 6) glass-metal and glass-plastic mixtures, and 7) ceramics comprising (or manufactured using) granular composites.

摘要: An iron-based alloy includes, in weight percent, carbon from about 2 to about 3 percent; manganese from about 0.1 to about 0.4 percent; silicon from about 0.3 to about 0.8 percent; chromium from about 11.5 to about 14.5 percent; nickel from about 0.05 to about 0.6 percent; vanadium from about 0.8 to about 2.2 percent; molybdenum from about 4 to about 7 percent; tungsten from about 3 to about 5 percent; niobium from about 1 to about 3 percent; cobalt from about 3 to about 5 percent; boron from zero to about 0.2 percent; and the balance containing iron and incidental impurities. The alloy is suitable for use in elevated temperature applications such as in valve seat inserts for combustion engines.

摘要: A centrifugally cast hot-rolling composite roll comprising (a) an outer layer made of cast iron having a chemical composition comprising by mass 2.5-3.5% of C, 1.3-2.4% of Si, 0.2-1.5% of Mn, 3.5-5.0% of Ni, 0.8-1.5% of Cr, 2.5-5.0% of Mo, 1.8-4.0% of V, and 0.2-1.5% of Nb, the balance being Fe and inevitable impurities, a mass ratio of Nb/V being 0.1-0.7, and a mass ratio of Mo/V being 0.7-2.5, and meeting the condition of 2.5≦V+1.2Nb≦5.5, and having a structure comprising 0.3-10% by area of a graphite phase; (b) a shaft portion made of ductile cast iron in which the area ratio of ferrite is 35% or less; and (c) an intermediate cast iron layer.

摘要: A sintered alloy has an overall composition consisting of, by mass %, 13.05 to 29.62% of Cr, 6.09 to 23.70% of Ni, 0.44 to 2.96% of Si, 0.2 to 1.0% of P, 0.6 to 3.0% of C, and the balance of Fe and inevitable impurities; a metallic structure in which carbides are precipitated and uniformly dispersed in an iron alloy matrix having dispersed pores; and a density of 6.8 to 7.4 Mg/m3. The carbides include specific carbides having maximum diameter of 1 to 10 μm and area ratio of 90% or more with respect to the total carbides.

摘要: An iron-based alloy includes (in weight percent) carbon from about 1 to about 2 percent; manganese up to about 1 percent; silicon up to about 1 percent; nickel up to about 4 percent; chromium from about 10 to about 25 percent; molybdenum from about 5 to about 20 percent; tungsten up to about 4 percent; cobalt from about 17 to about 23 percent; vanadium up to about 1.5 percent; boron up to about 0.2 percent; sulfur up to about 0.03 percent; nitrogen up to about 0.4 percent; phosphorus up to about 0.06 percent; niobium up to about 4 percent; iron from about 35 to about 55 percent; and incidental impurities. The chromium/molybdenum ratio of the iron-based alloy is from about 1 to about 2.5. The alloy is suitable for use in elevated temperature applications, such as valve seat inserts for combustion engines.

摘要: A highly reactive conversion coating chemistry is used during CAVF processing of high hardness steel alloys such as AMS 6509 and AMS 6517 steel alloys. This chemistry produces a hard, thin, black conversion coating that is not fully rubbed off by the media during the CAVF process. Distressed material regions on the surface of the alloys are not susceptible to forming the conversion coating and remain white. Visual inspection for the presence of such regions is facilitated.
