Abstract:
A flexible pipe connector including a first cylindrical member, a second cylindrical member to be inserted into the first cylindrical member, an annular restricting groove defined in an inner peripheral face of the first cylindrical member, an annular attaching groove defined in an outer peripheral face of the second cylindrical member and having a shorter length than the restricting groove in a direction of cylinder axis, a retaining member radially expandably and detachably fitted to the attaching groove for coming into contact with an end face of the restricting groove in the cylinder axis direction so as to restrict range of relative movement between the first and second cylindrical members in the cylinder axis direction. The outer peripheral face of the second cylindrical member and the inner peripheral face of the first cylindrical member are provided with a radial opposing distance therebetween determined so as to allow insertion and withdrawal of the retaining member. The connector also includes a radial-expansion restricting portion for preventing, through contact, a radially outward withdrawing movement of the retaining member from the attaching groove when the retaining member comes into contact, along the direction of the cylinder axis, against an end face of the restricting groove located on the side of an entrance opening of the first cylindrical member. At least mutually contacting portions respectively of the end face of the restricting groove and an end face of the retaining member are formed as faces extending substantially normal to the cylinder axis or tapered faces extending radially outward as approaching the entrance opening of the first cylindrical member.
Abstract:
A plurality of inclined planes (1419) are formed in the same substrate (1406) and a polarizing optical thin film is provided on these inclined planes. These inclined planes are filled with a transparent material so as to form a small sized and complexed polarizer. This polarizer is excellent in transmission ratio and in extinction ratio. With this polarizer, it is possible to detect a magneto-optical signal with a high signal-to-noise ratio. This polarizer is used as a cover of a package (1408) of an optical head in which a light receiving device (1410, 1411) and a light emitting device (1409) are contained in the form of a single piece. There is also provided an optical element capable of adjusting optical paths so that the optical length of a returning optical beam may be different from the optical length of a forward optical beam. With this optical element, it becomes possible to delete the initial offset in a focusing error signal, and thus adjustment process becomes unnecessary. With these arrangements, it is possible to achieve the size reduction, simplification, and improvement of performance associated with an optical head for use in a magneto-optical recording/reproducing device.
Abstract:

Spring members are provided to resiliently bias the flat platen against the protrusions, with a space being secured behind the flat platen.
Abstract:
A frost damage proofed pile for installment in a frigid district where the pile is subjected to a freezing and frost heaving force, such as permanently or seasonally frozen soil terrain. A tubular sheath member is fitted over the pile surface and has a length longer than the thickness of an active or seasonally frozen soil layer of the terrain in which the pile is installed. At least a portion of said length of the pile is formed as an extensible section, and at least the lower end of said sheath member is secured to the pile at or below a position corresponding to the bottom region of said active or seasonally frozen soil layer. A fluid material is filled in a space defined between the pile and the sheath member. The frost heaving force caused to exist upon freezing of the active or seasonally frozen soil layer as well as negative friction caused to exist in summer are inhibited from affecting the pile due to sliding of the sheath member relative to the pile.
Abstract:
The facsimile apparatus of the present invention is featured, by the functions of selecting transmission modes of picture signals according to a receiving mode informed of from a called party, for example, of transmitting picture signals representative of a picture reduced in size in case an original documents is larger in size than a recording sheet of paper of activating, in case a called machine is in a automatic reception mode, an acoustic output device incorporated in the called machine through a preliminary telephone talk function to request telephone talk with a called subscriber; and of maintaining a transmission line in its active state to call a called subscriber after transmission of picture signals in case a telephone talk is reserved or, otherwise, releasing the connection after transmission of picture signals in case a telephone talk is not reversed. The above-mentioned functions may be incorporated into a certain transmission protocol thereby accomplishing communication compatibility with other transmission-reception modes of picture signals.
Abstract:
A loudspeaker consisting of a driver or motor unit consisting of a cylindrical magnet structure, a voice coil and a domed diaphragm; an enclosure unit for receiving therein the driver or motor unit; and a horn unit attached mechanically to the opened end of the enclosure unit, the positioning or locating cylindrical section of the horn unit being snugly fitted into the enclosure unit. The assembly is much facilitated, and the driver or motor unit, the enclosure unit and the horn unit may be located and held in correctly mutually coaxially aligned relationship in a very simple manner. In one embodiment, a spring is loaded between the driver or motor unit and the enclosure unit so that the domed diaphragm may be restrained under the forces in excess of 1.5 kg/cm.sup.2 over which the lowest resonance frequency may be stabilized.

Abstract:
An advantage of some aspects of the invention is to provide a virtual image display apparatus in which occurrence of luminance spots is suppressed to improve efficiency of use of illumination light. In the virtual image display apparatus of the invention, an optical-directivity changing section forms a non-uniform distribution concerning the directivity of image lights GL emitted from an image display device. Therefore, even when an angle of a light beam emitted from the image display device and effectively captured into the eye EY of an observer is substantially different depending on a position of the image display device, it is possible to form the image lights GL having directivity corresponding to such an angle characteristic of light beam capturing. It is possible to suppress occurrence of luminance spots to improve efficiency of use of illumination light.

A support frame includes a light transmissive portion that is combined with a light guide member to form a see-through portion. The support frame assembled with the light guide member for image light observation therefore allows see-through observation of an outside-world object through the see-through portion. Further, providing the light transmissive portion in the support frame can increase the strength of the support frame while reducing the weight of the light guide member.
