    Abstract: A method by which a signal transmission device transmits packets in a communication system is provided. The method includes the operations of, generating a source symbol block including one or more source symbols having the same length by using a source packet block including one or more source packets; generating a restoration symbol block generated using one or more restoration symbols by performing a forward error correction (FEC) coding operation on the source symbol block; generating an FEC source packet including the source packets and an FEC payload identifier (ID) and transmitting the FEC source packet to a lower protocol; generating an FEC restoration packet including one or more of the restoration symbols and the FEC payload ID and transmitting the FEC restoration packet to the lower protocol; and transmitting FEC configuration information including information on the source symbol block generation operation to a receiver.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting a Forward Error Correction (FEC) packet block including a plurality of FEC packets in a multimedia system are provided. The method includes generating a plurality of first FEC packet blocks by performing a first FEC encoding on a plurality of source symbols, each of the plurality of first FEC packet blocks including at least one source packet and at least one repair packet for repair of each of the at least one source packet, generating a second FEC packet block by performing a second FEC encoding on the plurality of first FEC packet blocks, the second FEC packet block including at least one repair packet for the plurality of first FEC packet blocks, and transmitting the second FEC packet block that includes, in header information of each of the at least one source packet and the at least one repair packet.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method to detect coordinates in a pen-based display device are provided.     Abstract: A method and an apparatus for transmitting and receiving packets in a broadcasting system are provided. The present disclosure allocates a padding size field by using padding octets, and thus can increase transmission efficiency. Also, the present disclosure does not restrict the number of padding octets while maintaining compatibility with existing disclosures, and thus can carry out as much padding as desired and as necessary.     Abstract: An apparatus and method are provided for transmitting and receiving a quasi-cyclic Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) code in a multimedia communication system. In the method, a signal transmission apparatus generates a quasi-cyclic LDPC code, and transmits the quasi-cyclic LDPC code to a signal reception apparatus. The quasi-cyclic LDPC code is generated by encoding an information word vector using a child parity check matrix, generated by performing one of a scaling operation, a row separation operation, and a row merge operation on a parent parity check matrix. In the scaling operation, a size of the child parity check matrix is determined. In the row separation operation, each of rows included in the parent parity check matrix is separated. In the row merge operation, the rows included in the parent parity check matrix are merged.
