摘要: According to embodiments, an enhancement layer segment may be requested in addition to a base layer segment for a same video. The enhancement layer may be requested, in a low priority, so that the base layer may be delivered in priority. If the enhancement layer can be obtained by a deadline, a subsequent base layer segment may be requested at a higher quality (e.g., at a bitrate lower than or equal to the sum of the bitrates of the previously requested base layer and enhancement layer segments). If, for example, at a playback time, the enhancement layer segment is not obtained, it may be determined that the quality cannot be increased and subsequent requests for enhancement layer segments may be cancelled (e.g., not transmitted). According to embodiments, probing may repeat (e.g., any of immediately, regularly, periodically, . . . ) to detect available bandwidth variations.

摘要: A method includes acquiring a playlist identifying video files and an order in which the video files are to be played back during a video streaming session on an endpoint device, obtaining, from an operator of a communications network over which the video files are to be downloaded, a maximum value of a streaming parameter for the video streaming session, selecting a subsequent video file that is scheduled for playback after a playback of a currently playing video file, wherein the subsequent video file includes a plurality of chunks, selecting, for each chunk, a variant, such that a plurality of variants is selected in which each variant corresponds to one chunk of the plurality of chunks, wherein the selecting the variant is based on both the maximum value and a measured value for the streaming parameter, and downloading the plurality of variants to a local buffer of the endpoint device.

Systems include decoders configured to decode a plurality of media streams, wherein each of the plurality of media streams includes a plurality of frames each comprising video data. Systems further include memory devices configured to store a plurality of unscaled frames included in the plurality of frames and received from the decoder, and processing devices configured to generate a plurality of display parameters based, at least in part, on the plurality of media streams. Systems also include a plurality of scalers configured to identify frames to be scaled based on the plurality of display parameters, further configured to scale the identified plurality of frames based on a plurality of scaling parameters. Systems further include encoders configured to encode at least some of the plurality of scaled frames into one or more media steams.

A user equipment (UE) may transmit a request to a network entity to establish a voice communication session with another UE that may be subscribed to a video service. The UE may transmit an indication of a video streaming parameter for the video service for streaming one-way video transmissions from the network entity to the UE for display during establishment of the voice communication session. The UE may transmit an indication of an updated video streaming parameter to the network entity to reduce the video quality for the video service. The network entity may reduce the video streaming quality for the one or more one-way video transmissions to the UE based on the updated video streaming parameter.

摘要: A method is provided for streaming transcoded HLS video from a video asset to allow a minimum startup delay time. A method includes pre-transcoding a first number of the HLS chunks. Then, once a request is received from a remote HLS client for the HLS video asset, transmitting a number of the pre-transcoded chunks to the remote HLS player. The pre-transcoded chunks are transmitted during a startup period until real-time transcoded chunks can be received and processed by the remote HLS player at a time position to allow seamless transition from the pre-transcoded chunks.

For example, methods, apparatuses, and computer-readable media are described that can include receiving a multicast stream of media content, and dividing the multicast stream of media content into data fragments. In some cases, the multicast stream of media content can be transcoded from a first media format to a second media format. The data fragments can be transmitted, over one or more Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) channels using a web socket protocol, to a browser of the computing device for playback.
