    摘要: System, device and method for using user-generated metadata to arrive at a modified search index that emphasizes a relationship between documents selected by a user during a prior search session and salient terms of those documents. An initial search index is modified by adding a synthetic term and a synthetic document to terms and documents that are used to arrive at the elements of the index and by modifying the relevance scores to highlight one or more of the search terms, the synthetic term, and the synthetic document. Synthetic term ties a cluster of related documents together and synthetic document ties terms of these documents together. Synthetic term is not found in any other documents and synthetic document does not belong to any normal corpus of documents. Modified index aids in re-generating prior user choices because it contains artifacts reflecting associations that user perceived between various terms and documents.

    摘要: Fluid-based particle detection exhibits improved light collection and image quality from a light collection system that uses immersed optics on a flow-through cell for collecting and detecting scattered light from particles carried by the fluid. The flow-through cell includes first and second body sections that are coupled to form a unitary article and have opposed interior surface portions configured to form opposed walls of a flow channel through which the fluid flows. First and second optical elements are associated with the respective first and second body sections. In certain embodiments, at least one of the first and second optical elements is an integral part of its associated body section. A lens element constructed as an integral part of the unitary flow-through cell eliminates additional interfaces or bonding joints that cause scattering and absorption of light.

    摘要: A particle detection system exhibits an increased ability to detect the presence of submicron diameter particles and to distinguish between noise and pulse output signals generated by small diameter particles on which a light beam is incident. This increased ability results from the incorporation of a light reflector, a pair of detector elements that detect correlated portions of the light beam that have been scattered in multiple directions, and a coincidence circuit that determines whether each detector element in the pair concurrently generates a pulse output signal exceeding a predetermined threshold. Sample particles are counted only when both detector elements concurrently detect scattered light components.

    摘要: A scanning fingerprint detection system includes an array of capacitive sensing elements, the array having a first dimension greater than the width of a fingerprint and a second dimension less than the length of a fingerprint. Each of the capacitive sensing elements has first and second conductor plates connected across an inverting amplifier, the conductor plates forming capacitors with the ridges and valleys of a fingerprint of a finger pressed against a protective coating above the array, the inverting amplifier generating a signal indicative of a ridge or valley. Circuitry is provided for scanning the array to capture an image of a portion of fingerprint and for assembling the captured images into a fingerprint image.

    摘要: A method and circuit are disclosed for maintaining stored data within a ferroelectric memory device. The circuit includes a first circuit for selectively logically inverting the data in the ferroelectric memory device. A second circuit enables the first circuit at the one or more predetermined times. A third circuit logically inverts data to be written to and data read from the ferroelectric memory device following every other predetermined time. In this way, the circuit is capable of inverting the data values stored in the ferroelectric memory device, thereby reducing the susceptibility of imprint.

    摘要: An apparatus (and method) is provided that reduces noise in an embedded DRAM caused by noise in the Vdd supply. A circuit switches or decouples the bit line precharge voltage supply from the memory array to reduce noise in the memory array at time of bit line sensing. In addition, another circuit is utilized to switch or decouple the memory cell plate voltage supply from the memory array to reduce noise in the memory array at the time of bit line sensing. The circuit(s) includes a switch to perform the decoupling, or alternatively, include a switch coupled in parallel with a high impedance.
