Abstract:
Transistors having a dielectric over a semiconductor, a control gate over the dielectric at a particular level, and one or more conductive structures over the dielectric at the particular level facilitate control of device characteristics of the transistor. The one or more conductive structures are between the control gate and at least one source/drain region of the transistor. The one or more conductive structures are electrically isolated from the control gate.
Abstract:
A Fibreglass or UPVC construction (1) which will vary in shape and size according to which type of entrance i.e. door, window, airbrick etc, it is to cover. When fitted properly to the outside of the building and over the entrance, the rubber seal (4), which will vary In size depending on what type of surface it is to be secured to, will create a watertight seal, and therefore protect the inside of the property from water damage.
Abstract:
An exhaust aftertreatment device has a unitary cast inlet that is configurable to have a 90° or 180° entry of combustion gasses relative to flow through tubular elements housing a diesel oxidization catalyst and a diesel particulate filter. The cast component provides the primary structural support for a tubular element connected to the casting element.
Abstract:
A method for accelerating an operating system boot process is disclosed. In one exemplary embodiment, during a first operating system boot, information regarding the physical locations of disk access performed by the operating system to complete the boot are recorded and stored in a control data file. The control data file is used during a second operating system boot to predict which data will be required during the second operating system, and to populate a cache with that data. The cache can then be used to improve the second operating system boot to improve the boot time. In one embodiment, the information is independent of a file system of the operating system. In another embodiment, the cache can be populated by copying data from a mass storage device to a cache, and when the data is used, it can be moved from the cache to another cache.
Abstract:
A manufactured dry ice product containing ozone entrapped or absorbed on said dry ice. The dry ice product can be used to chill and preserve food products and provides the added benefit of ozonation of the food product to kill bacteria. Novel processes for ozonating liquid and solid CO2 are provided.
Abstract:
A vehicle front end structure has a firewall structure and a pair of hood ledge structures that extend in a cantilevered manner. Each of the hood ledge structures has a vehicle frame mounting part for coupling its free end to the vehicle chassis. Thus, the hood ledge structures are configured and arranged to be separately supported by the firewall structure to form an unobstructed space between the hood ledge structures. A front end module is fixedly coupled to the hood ledge structures at a pair of upper attachment points and at pair of lower attachment points. The lower attachment points are offset inwardly relative to the upper attachment points. The front end module and the hood ledge structures are provided with mating guide members that have horizontal and vertical guide portions to aid in the installation of the front end module on the hood ledge structures.
Abstract:
A vehicle floating nut assembly is part of a body mounting fixture that couples a vehicle body onto a vehicle frame. The floating nut assembly has a nut element that floats with in a nut retainer assembly. At least one of the sliding surfaces located between the nut element and the retainer assembly is coated with a coating resistant material such as polytetrafluoroethylene. Thus, the nut retainer assembly is arranged so that the nut element is slideable relative to the planar surface of the retainer assembly within a predetermined range of movement. Several floating nut assemblies are utilized to fixedly couple the vehicle body to the vehicle frame in which one of the vehicle floating nut assemblies includes is arranged to only allow limited movement of the nut element in one linear direction.
Abstract:
A method of utilizing the first valve bounce is used in a diesel engine having a solenoid valve controlled fuel injection system, wherein the solenoid-actuated valve is movable between a fully closed position for injection and a fully open position preventing injection. The method includes: (1) energizing the solenoid for valve movement to the fully closed position for commencing pilot injection; (2) de-energizing the solenoid immediately prior to the valve reaching the fully closed position for pilot injection in order to facilitate movement of the valve toward the fully open position immediately after the valve has reached the fully closed position, thereby preventing subsequent valve bounces; and (3) re-energizing the solenoid immediately prior to the valve reaching the fully open position, whereby to facilitate movement of the valve toward the fully closed position for main injection immediately after the valve reaches the fully open position, thus preventing subsequent valve bounces and decreasing time lag between pilot and main injection.
