Abstract: A vehicle includes a chassis defining a longitudinal axis, a cab coupled to the chassis, a front axle coupled to the chassis, a rear axle coupled to the chassis, a body assembly coupled to the chassis, and a ladder assembly. The body assembly defines a recess that includes a plurality of angled portions. The plurality of angled portions extend laterally outward at a downward angle away from the longitudinal axis. The ladder assembly has a proximal end disposed within the recess. The plurality of angled portions at least partially facilitate the ladder assembly in traveling through at least one of a sweep angle range or a depression angle range.

Abstract: Briefly stated, one aspect of the present disclosure is directed to a firefighting apparatus. The firefighting apparatus includes a movable fire truck chassis and a battery array movable with the movable fire truck chassis and operatively connected to provide power for operating at least one pump of the firefighting apparatus. A pre-connect pump has a pre-connect inlet and a pre-connect outlet and is electrically powered by the battery array. A controller is operatively connected to the pre-connect pump and configured to control the pre-connect pump under a standby condition selected to maintain the firefighting apparatus in a state of readiness to pump firefighting fluid. The controller reduces a power-consumption rate of the pre-connect pump while maintaining the standby condition as compared to operating the pre-connect pump under an idle condition. The standby condition requires pumping by at least one pump within the firefighting apparatus for maintenance of the standby condition.

Abstract: A fluid system includes a ratio controller. The ratio controller includes a housing, a nozzle, and a diffuser. The housing defines a mixing chamber, a first inlet positioned at a first end of the mixing chamber, an outlet positioned at an opposing second end of the mixing chamber, and a second inlet positioned at a location around a periphery of the mixing chamber between the first inlet and the outlet. The first fluid is configured to receive a first fluid input. The second inlet is configured to receive a second fluid input. The nozzle includes a nozzle inlet positioned proximate the first inlet and a nozzle outlet positioned within the mixing chamber. The diffuser extends from the outlet and outward from the housing. The diffuser includes a diffuser inlet positioned within the mixing chamber.

Abstract: An electrified fire fighting vehicle includes a chassis, a cab coupled to the chassis, a body coupled to the chassis, a front axle coupled to the chassis, a rear axle coupled to the chassis, a water tank supported by the chassis, an energy storage system coupled to the chassis and positioned rearward of the cab, a water pump supported by the chassis, and an electromagnetic device electrically coupled to the energy storage system. The electromagnetic device is coupled to the water pump and at least one of the front axle or the rear axle. The electromagnetic device is configured to receive stored energy from the energy storage system and provide a mechanical output to selectively drive the water pump and the at least one of the front axle or the rear axle.

Abstract: A system for and method of fighting fires using a monitoring system in communication with a hazard mitigation robot. The monitoring system is comprised of a plurality of sensors receiving data that is analyzed by the monitoring system to identify a potential fire. When a potential fire is detected, the monitoring system dispatches one or more autonomous hazard mitigation robots which navigate to an indicated location, confirm the presence of a fire, and attempt to extinguish the fire using fire suppressant material carried onboard the hazard mitigation robot.

Abstract: A mobile liquid nitrogen fire extinguishing system for a utility tunnel is provided, including a liquid nitrogen production assembly, a fire extinguishing assembly, a monitoring device, and a liquid nitrogen conveying tubing. The mobile fire extinguishing assembly includes a liquid nitrogen storage tank and a liquid nitrogen booster pump. The liquid nitrogen storage tank is connected to the liquid nitrogen booster pump. The liquid nitrogen booster pump conveys liquid nitrogen to branch pipes in the utility tunnel through the liquid nitrogen conveying tubing. Liquid nitrogen injection ports are formed in each of the branch pipes. The liquid nitrogen production assembly is mobile and conveys the prepared liquid nitrogen to the liquid nitrogen storage tank. The monitoring device includes a first monitoring assembly and a second monitoring assembly.
