Abstract: A fluid distribution system includes a first flow meter configured to be positioned along an agent line, a metering valve configured to be positioned downstream of the first flow meter, a second flow meter configured to be positioned downstream of the first flow meter and an eductor, and a controller configured to selectively operate the fluid distribution system in a testing mode where the controller is configured to acquire a first flow rate of a fluid flowing through the first flow meter and a second flow rate of the fluid flowing through the second flow meter, determine a performance characteristic based on the first flow rate and the second flow rate, and modulate a current setting of the metering valve from a first setting to a second setting and conduct the testing mode sequence again at the second setting to verify the fluid distribution system is performing properly.

Abstract: A system for applying a fire retardant with a hose includes a nozzle, a straw coupled to the nozzle, and a container coupled to the nozzle with fire retardant liquid in the container. The nozzle is connected to a hose, such as a garden hose, and mixes the fire retardant liquid with water to create a fire retardant mixture. The nozzle discharges the fire retardant mixture onto a structure or another selected location to reduce the risk of damage due to fire. The system may also be adapted for use with a vehicle for mixing and applying the fire retardant mixture onsite in commercial applications.

Abstract: The present application discloses spiral water intake valves and fire-fighting robots. The spiral water intake valve includes a valve body. The main valve core includes a main valve sealing base and a main valve screw. A water intake channel is provided in the center part of an upper valve cover of the valve body, the mating connector is provided in the water intake channel, the main valve sealing base is sealedly connected to the upper valve cover, and the main valve screw is threadedly connected to the connecting base. The fire-fighting robot includes a chassis and a track. At least one spiral water intake valve is provided on the track. A valve opening mechanism is provided on the chassis.

Abstract: A Class-A fire-protected wood product include: a wood product having exterior wood surfaces and being selected from the group consisting of finger-jointed wood products, dimensioned lumber products, cross-laminated timber (CLT) products, and engineered wood products (EWPs); and thin potassium salt crystalline coatings formed on the exterior wood surfaces of said wood product during a surface treatment process involving the coating of said exterior surfaces with an environmentally-clean fire inhibiting liquid chemical composition, so as to produce a Class-A fire-protected wood product having Class-A fire-protected wood surfaces, when water molecules in said environmentally-clean fire inhibiting liquid chemical composition evaporate to the environment during drying and formation of said thin potassium salt crystalline coatings. The thin potassium salt crystalline coatings protect the treated exterior surfaces against fire ignition and flame spread in the presence of fire, by interrupting the combustion phase of the fire by one or more pathways, and inhibiting fire ignition and flame spread.

Abstract: There is described a fire-fighting apparatus comprising a housing comprising an upstream air inlet and a downstream fire-extinguishing stream outlet and a hollow body therebetween, wherein the housing houses an air stream traveling at high velocity; and a spray assembly concentrically mounted to the housing. The spray assembly comprises a fluid inlet connected to a source of fluid outside the housing; and a plurality of injecting assemblies fluidly connected to the fluid inlet and designed for breaking down an inflow of the fluid into droplets and projecting the droplets of the fluid within the air stream in a multiphase fire-extinguishing stream. The injecting assemblies each comprises a fluid outlet; a base plate through which extends the fluid outlet; a holding structure mounted to the base plate and extending downstream therefrom, and a unibody jet-fragmenting device mounted to the holding structure facing the stream of fluid exiting the fluid outlet.
