Abstract: The present invention provides compositions useful as a barrier layer in, for example, packaging products. The compositions generally comprise a blend of (i) a polyester resin, preferably an aromatic polyester resin such as polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and (ii) a polyamide material (e.g., MXD6). The blend optionally may further comprise (iii) an oxygen scavenging material. The present invention also provides containers (e.g., containers formed by expansion of preforms) having a multilayered body-forming portion including: a core layer comprising the aforementioned blend; and inner and outer layers of a formable polymer composition. The present invention also provides methods of making such containers.

Abstract: The present invention provides a water-soluble film having high solubility in cold water and high extensibility. The present invention also provides a method for simply producing such a water-soluble film. One aspect of the present invention relates to a water-soluble film including a polyamine backbone-containing compound and a water-soluble resin. Abstract: Described are rigid and semi-rigid polyvinyl chloride (PVC) films, layers, or sheets, and methods of forming the same. The PVC products includes polyvinyl chloride resin and at least one 2D filler incorporated at the micro- or nano-scale. The film can have a low water permeance, for example, lower than that of a traditional PVC film. The water permeance of the PVC film described in this invention is significantly lower than that of a PVC film specifically developed for pipe jacketing applications. Standard pipe jacketing applications use either PVC or metal jacketing in their systems. The invention described herein produces a finished PVC product with a low water permeance similar to that of the metal jacketing products specifically developed for pipe jacketing applications.

Abstract: Compositions for forming an improved vapor mitigation barrier are contemplated, such compositions being formed as an aqueous mixture of an asphalt component and a latex component, with the latex component including a chemically resistant latex, the chemically resistant latex being an acrylonitrile butadiene copolymer, an elastomeric fluoropolymer, or both. Such compositions, when cured and formed into a vapor mitigation barrier, may be seen to substantially mitigate diffusion of chlorinated hydrocarbons across the barriers. Also contemplated are methods for forming such vapor mitigation barriers, as well as vapor mitigation barrier products formed via the application of such compositions to various substrates.

Abstract: A composition for a food product storage container includes a polypropylene co-polymer, a tie additive, a color concentrate, and Ethylene vinyl alcohol. The ethylene vinyl alcohol may be between 3 and 10% by weight of the food product storage container. The composition further comprises small particle talc. The composition may be configured to be co-injection molded to form the food product storage container which may reduce an ingress of moisture and/or oxygen.

Abstract: The invention relates to a polymer blend comprising 15 to 70 Wt. % of polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) and/or of a PVOH copolymer as well as 30 to 85 Wt. % of a further polymer, to a method for preparing a polymer blend, to the use of a polymer blend for producing a packaging material and to a packaging material. The packaging material obtained from the polymer blend is characterized in particular by a low gas permeability and can be produced by means of cost-effective methods.
