    摘要: PSA process for oxygen production comprising (a) providing an adsorber having a first layer of adsorbent selective for water and a second layer of adsorbent selective for nitrogen, wherein the heat of adsorption of water on the adsorbent in the first layer is ≦about 14 kcal/mole at water loadings ≧about 0.05 to about 3 mmol per gram; (b) passing a feed gas comprising at least oxygen, nitrogen, and water successively through the first and second layers, adsorbing water in the first layer of adsorbent, and adsorbing nitrogen in the second layer of adsorbent, wherein the mass transfer coefficient of water in the first layer is in the range of about 125 to about 400 sec−1 and the superficial contact time of the feed gas in the first layer is between about 0.08 and about 0.50 sec; and (c) withdrawing a product enriched in oxygen from the adsorber.

    摘要: Process step in a pressure swing adsorption process using multiple parallel adsorbent beds operating in cyclic process steps to recover a less strongly adsorbable component from a feed gas mixture containing at least one less strongly adsorbable component and at least one more strongly adsorbable component, wherein each adsorbent bed has a feed end and a product end, wherein each bed is subjected to at least a feed/product step, one or more depressurization steps, a purge step in which a purge gas enriched in the less strongly adsorbable component is introduced into the product end of the bed and a purge effluent gas is withdrawn from the feed end of the bed, and one or more repressurization steps. The process step comprises introducing at least a portion of the purge effluent gas from a first bed into the feed end of a second adsorbent bed at any time other than during the feed/product step in the second adsorbent bed.

    摘要: Portable medical oxygen concentrator comprising an air separation system adapted to recover oxygen from air; a bottom platform and a shell having an outer wall, wherein the shell is detachably connected to the bottom platform, wherein the shell and bottom platform define an enclosed volume when the shell is connected to the bottom platform, and wherein the air separation system is disposed in the enclosed volume; and one or more rechargeable batteries detachably connected to the outer wall of the shell and adapted to provide power to drive the air separation system. The air separation system may comprises a pressure swing adsorption system having two or more adsorbent columns and a rotary valve for directing gas flow sequentially to, from, and among the columns. A base assembly attached to the bottom platform may be adapted to support the two or more adsorbent columns and the rotary valve.
