Abstract: Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) numerologies that maintain symbol boundary alignment while distributing excess cyclic prefixes (CPs) among OFDM symbols. Communication is established using a first sub-carrier spacing (SCS) and a first OFDM numerology, such as an exemplary numerology that distributes excess CP duration among a set of symbols that occupy a time interval within or equal to a corresponding time interval of a symbol of a second OFDM numerology with a second lower SCS. The first SCS may be, e.g., 960 kHz. The second SCS may be, e.g., 120 kHz. Another exemplary OFDM numerology described herein distributes the excess CP as prefix and postfix portions to one of the symbols, such as the first symbol of a set. Communication then proceeds using the first OFDM numerology at the first SCS and, in illustrative examples, using the second OFDM numerology at the second SCS or other OFDM numerologies at other SCSs.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for wireless communication. In one aspect of the disclosure, a method of wireless communication performed by a user equipment (UE) includes receiving, from a base station, a scheduling downlink control information (DCI) message in a physical downlink control channel (PDCCH). The scheduling DCI message indicates a resource allocation for a scheduled DCI message in a subsequent physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH). The method further includes receiving, from the base station, the scheduled DCI message within the subsequent PDSCH. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may communicate with a base station by initiating a random access procedure with a two-root preamble. The UE may receive, from the base station, control signaling that indicates a set of root preamble sequences. The UE may transmit, to the base station, a preamble signal that is generated based on a first root preamble sequence and a second root preamble sequence of the set of root preamble sequences. The UE may then monitor for a preamble response based on the preamble signal. In some cases, the base station may be a base station in a terrestrial network. In other cases, the base station may be a satellite in a non-terrestrial network (NTN).

Abstract: A method and apparatus for operating a satellite system including different satellites that may belong to different types of satellite constellations. In some implementations, the satellite system may include a LEO satellite constellation and one or more non-LEO satellite constellations that can be used to increase the forward link capacity of the LEO satellite constellation, for example, by allowing an LEO satellite to offload at least some of its forward link traffic to one of the non-LEO satellites. The user terminals can dynamically switch forward link communications between a LEO satellite and a non-LEO satellite while maintaining a return link connection with the LEO satellite.

Abstract: Various aspects of the disclosure relate to allocating control signaling resources for multiple carrier scenarios. In an example implementation, N-to-1 mapping is used between forward link control signaling resource allocation indices (e.g., control channel elements) and return link control signaling resources (e.g., for ACK/NACK signaling) indices in each return link component carrier. A collision between forward link control signaling assignments for different user terminals (UTs) may occur when UT-specific search spaces overlap each other. Such a collision may be avoided, for example, by scheduling different UTs on different return link component carriers, scheduling return link grants instead of forward link grants, or scheduling a different forward link control signaling candidate that is associated with a different forward link control signaling resource allocation index.

Abstract: A communication satellite system provides for spectral efficient data transmissions by a gateway to multiple user terminals by way of a satellite. The gateway transmits multiple blocks in a single slot, each block intended for one of the user terminals, where each block is encoded and modulated according to a scheme that may be different for each intended user terminal. Upon re-transmission of a block if that block is lost or received in error, the block may be encoded and modulated according to another scheme that is less spectrally efficient than in the first transmission of the block.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A user equipment (UE) may obtain updated location information, and determine a time difference between a previous communication with a network and a scheduled uplink transmission. Based on the determined time difference, the UE may determine a timing advance (TA) component of a TA value to apply for the uplink transmission, and transmit an uplink message in the uplink transmission according to the determined TA value and the location information. In some examples, the time difference may be based on a first duration between the uplink transmission and a previous uplink transmission, a second duration between the uplink transmission and a previous TA command received from the network, or both. In some examples, the determined TA value may be based on additional parameters, such as an autonomous adjustment step, an aggregate adjustment rate, a scaling factor, or any combination thereof.
