摘要: A transmission includes a multi-speed geartrain comprised of an input shaft, a mainshaft, and a plurality of constant-mesh gearsets arranged for selectively coupling the mainshaft to the input shaft for driven rotation at various speed ratios. The mainshaft can be selectively coupled to the power transfer arrangement for establishing two alternative power transmission routes. In particular, the range shift mechanism is provided for establishing a high-range power transmission route and a low-range power transmission route from the mainshaft to a quill shaft which, in turn, drives the interaxle differential. The torque delivered by the quill shaft is split by the interaxle differential between the front and rear drivelines to establish the full-time four-wheel high-range and low-range drive modes. Optionally, the torque transfer apparatus can be provided for controlling speed differentiation across the interaxle differential or in place of the interaxle differential for on-demand four-wheel drive operation. The torque transfer apparatus can be a speed-sensitive device or an electronically-controlled transfer clutch.

摘要: A planetary gear assembly is disclosed having a sun gear fixed for rotation with an input, a ring gear, and a planet carrier fixed for rotation with an output and which has a plurality of planet gears rotatably supported thereon that mesh with the sun gear and the ring gear. To establish the high and low-range drive connections between the input and the output, a first range sleeve is supported for rotation with the input and is movable between a neutral position and an engaged position whereat the input is coupled to the planet carrier. In addition, a second range sleeve is supported for rotation with the ring gear and is movable between a neutral position and an engaged position whereat the ring gear is coupled to a stationary brake plate. Accordingly, the high-range drive connection between the input and the output is established when the first range sleeve is in its engaged position and the second range sleeve is in its neutral position. Moreover, the low-range drive connection between the input and the output is established when the first range sleeve is in its neutral position and the second range sleeve is in its engaged position. Finally, a neutral mode is established whereat the output is not driven by the input when both the first and second range sleeves are in their respective neutral positions.

摘要: A damper and clutch assembly is provided having a damper mechanism for providing a dampened connection to an engine output shaft and having an inertia member connected thereto. A multi-disc clutch mechanism is also drivingly connected to the damper mechanism. The clutch mechanism includes a plurality of drive plates connected to a drive drum, a plurality of driven plates connected to a driven drum and an inertia member connected to the drive drum. The damper and clutch assembly is integrated into the housing of a manual shift automotive transmission and is provided with a forced air cooling system and an inside to outside lubrication system.

摘要: A dual clutch transmission for a vehicle is provided. The transmission includes a first input shaft driven by a first clutch and a second input shaft driven by a second clutch. An output shaft or shafts are driven by the input shafts having selective mesh torsional force transferring gear contact therewith. A differential input gear is driven by the output shaft or shafts. At least one of the input shafts has at least one input gear that torsionally engages with the output shaft via an idler shaft having an idler input shaft torsionally connected on the idler shaft with an idler shaft output gear through a one-way clutch and wherein the idler shaft output gear is meshed with another gear on the one input shaft.

摘要: A controlled differential actuator particularly adapted for differential applications for motor vehicle powertrains. The differential operator incorporates an electromagnetically applied first or primary clutch coupled to a second multi-disc clutch pack through a ball ramp operator. Energization of the solenoid coil selectively applies the main clutch pack which is coupled to a differential carrier and one of the axle half shafts connected with the differential assembly. Modulation of current applied to the solenoid coil allows a selective frictional coupling between the differential axle half shafts which provides desirable traction features for the associated motor vehicle.
