    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a rotor includes the following operations: the clamping of a workpiece in a grinding machine; the performance of one or more cylindrical grinding operations whereby a rotor shaft section is ground to the desired diameter with a cylindrical grinding disk; the performance of one more profile grinding operations whereby a rotor body is profiled with a profile grinding disk. During the manufacture of the rotor in the grinding machine, the workpiece is not undamped and the cylindrical grinding operations and the profile grinding operations are done with the same grinding machine.

    Abstract: A rectangular glass substrate has a front surface, a back surface, four side surfaces, and eight chamfered surfaces, and a thickness of at least 6 mm. A first curved surface along the edge line between the front surface and the chamfered surface disposed adjacent thereto has an average gradient of up to 25% in a range from the front surface to a position of 50 μm below the front surface when the substrate is rested horizontal with the front surface facing upward. A second curved surface along the edge line between at least one of four side surfaces and the chamfered surface disposed adjacent to the front surface has an average gradient of at least 30% in a range from the at least one side surface to a position of 50 μm below the at least one side surface when the substrate is rested horizontal with the at least one side surface facing upward.

    Abstract: A portable system for imparting a reciprocating motion between a driving member and a driven member. The driving member has an upper and lower surfaces joined by one or more edges and includes a battery-powered drive mechanism. The driven member includes a treatment surface. First and second spaced apart studs extend from one of the members, and first and second spaced apart slots are formed in the other member. A locating recess is formed in each of the slots into which the studs are received. The drive mechanism is connected to one of the studs to impart a linear reciprocating motion thereto when the driven member is attached to the driving member. The connection between the driving member and the driven member is effected by each stud being entered into the respective slot and then moved into the respective locating recess by a twist-fit action.

    Abstract: A device for processing a surface of a work piece. A motor is configured to produce a rotary force. A driving pulley is operatively coupled to the motor such that the rotary force produced by the motor causes rotation of the driving pulley. A belt is operatively coupled to the driving pulley such that rotation of the driving pulley causes rotation of the belt. A second pulley is also operatively coupled to the belt such that rotation of the belt causes rotation of the second pulley. Bristles are coupled to the belt and extend away from the belt.
