摘要: A liquid dispersion includes a matrix phase of polymerizable material and at least 10% by volume of solid conductive particles distributed throughout the matrix. The conductive particles may have an average particle size of less than approximately 100 nm, and the liquid dispersion may have a viscosity of less than approximately 100 Poise. Such a liquid dispersion may be printed or extruded and then cured to form a solid thin film. The content and distribution of conductive particles within the thin film may reach a percolation threshold such that the thin film may form a conductive layer. Polymer-based devices, such as nanovoided polymer (NVP)-based actuators may be formed by co-extrusion of a nanovoided polymer material between conductive polymer electrodes.

摘要: A piezoelectric energy harvester has a layered structure comprising a first electrode, a polymeric piezoelectric material, and a second electrode, the layered structure coupled to receive mechanical stress from the environment, and the first and second electrode electrically coupled to a power converter. The power converter is adapted to charge an energy storage device selected from a capacitor and a battery. The method of harvesting energy from the environment includes providing a piezoelectric device comprising a layer of a polymeric piezoelectric material disposed between a first and a second electrode; coupling mechanical stress derived from an environment to the piezoelectric device; and coupling electrical energy from the piezoelectric device.

摘要: Provided herein is a modulating retroreflective multilayer film comprising retroreflective elements, a piezoelectric layer, a photovoltaic layer, and an energy storage device. The stacked and transparent layered configuration of the film allows the retroreflective elements and the photovoltaic layer to be simultaneously illuminated by a narrow beam. The low power piezoelectric layer and the energy harvesting of the photovoltaic layer allow the retroreflector to be energetically self-sufficient and suitable for remote deployment. The flexible properties of the component layers allow the retroreflector to be adhered to nonplanar or irregular surfaces for the purpose of labeling and tagging.

摘要: This disclosure relates to a medical device including, a hard part, a converter, and a conductive path. The hard part has fluid paths for guiding a medical fluid, in particular blood, through the hard part. The converter is arranged to measure a characteristic of the medical fluid while the fluid is present in one of the fluid paths. At least a first section of the converter or of the conductive path is applied to or superimposed on the hard part by a first additive application method. At least a second section of the converter or of the conductive path is applied to the hard part by a second application method. The first and the second additive application methods differ from each other.

摘要: Disclosed is a composite comprising: a polymer matrix formed from one or more of a monomer or a precursor polymer; and an in-situ dispersion of a piezoelectric ceramic filler and an ionic additive within the polymer matrix, wherein the composite exhibits a d33 of at least 1 pC/N when measured using a piezoelectric meter. Disclosed also herein are methods of forming the composite.
